THE CONTENDERS

#1 SEED:  THE SERBIAN JEW DOUBLE BLUFFS
YEAR:
2004
ROSTER:
MATT MCCLELLAND, JON OLSAVSKY, NATE TOMKO, SHELLEY GOODPASTOR, BEN SMITH
19-1 regular season, untouched after the first week of the year, sbl records for runs scored in a season and game, all-star selections and one of the stingiest defenses ever.  the team has no kinks, and should one of the starters fall, can go deep into it's bench and still field a tremendous team.  this tournament is the double bluffs to lose.

#2 SEED:  THE RATCHET THUNDER STUDS
YEAR: 2002
ROSTER: SHELLY GOODPASTOR, NATE TOMKO, MARK TARKANICK, MIKEY MOROCO, SAM LYNN
the studs earned the second seed in our tournament by breezing thru the sbl in 2002, losing only three games (two on the same day, and a meaningless last-week loss in which their effort could be called "half-hearted" at best), and sweeping both playoff series.  regarded by many as the best team ever, the studs look to make it fact by continuing their winning ways against four seasons of competition.

#3 SEED: THE TRANSEXUAL HEARTBREAKERS
YEAR: 2003
ROSTER:  ELYSA FARRELL, KURT RODEMOYER, JARED CLAYTON, ERIN LEYDE, SARAH ALLEN
the third seeded heartbreakers claimed the 2003 sbl title by getting red-hot over the final two-thirds of the season.  after a 1-5 start, the thb went 15-6 down the stretch, including 6-1 in playoffs which featured 34-11 and 21-6 thrashings of the weenises in the championship series.  but can the heartbreakers get hot for another tournament run, or did they blow their entire load on their first?

#4 SEED:  GONADS & STRIFE
YEAR:  2003
ROSTER: SHELLY GOODPASTOR, ANDY ESENWEIN, ADDAM STAINBROOK, NATE TOMKO, LEE NESPOR
perhaps the most underachieving team in sbl history, gonads & strife won the 2004 regular season handily before being stunned in the second round of the playoffs by the team seeded directly above them.  the G&S will certainly be looking to exact some revenge this time around, and with a loaded roster, have the ability to do so.

#5 SEED:  THE PINK BANDANA GIRLS
YEAR: 2002
ROSTER:  FRED SHAFFER, JASON BIDDLE, SEAN HOOD, JARED CLAYTON
it could be assumed that, had they not played in the year of the thunder studs, the pbg would have won the sbl championship.  captained by former champ sean hood and led by a trio of rookies, the girls lost to the studs in the championship series and anxiously await another crack at them.

#6 SEED:  HOOSIER DADDY
YEAR: 2004
ROSTER:  MIKEY MOROCO, BRYAN FRANKOVICH, SETH SALCEDO, DENNIS LACKEY, BRANDON MCKENDRY
poor hoosier daddy.  they spent pretty much the entire summer of 2004 getting no respect, and when the rest of the league finally took notice of their talent when they reached the sbl championship, they got pasted 2-0 by our #1 seeds, the sj2b.  and how is it the team that finished right behind the top seed only gets a #6 spot?  boy, this team has a lot to prove, and could make a serious run at the mythical title.

#7 SEED: THE MILF HUNTERS
YEAR:  2003
ROSTER:  KIP CORBETT, JASON BETTS, MARK TARKANICK, STEVE MENTREK, SAM LYNN
if the first half on the 2003 season, the milf hunters went 9-1, including 3 last second wins and victories over the heartbreakers twice and gonads & strife.  in the second half, their fortunes reversed, and the hunters dropped 10 of their last 13, culminating in a playoff sweeping at the hands of the 'breakers.  will we see a 7 seed that looks more like a 2 seed or a 15 seed?

#8 SEED: PJ & THE LADIES II
YEAR: 2002
ROSTER:  PJ NESPOR, BIG RANDO KNIGHT, STEVE MENTREK, JOEL LEPAK, KATIE BURGER
for some reason, the pj & the ladies of year 2 had more gusto than any of the other seasons.  while the roster of the '03 team was arguably better, this version just seemed to click better.  they maintained their status as the funnest team in the league, but for once managed to do it while being competitive.  besides, the second version of the ladies are looking to put some credibility behind that "real world championship" they won.

#9 SEED:  XDEATHX/WSAC
YEAR: 2004
ROSTER:  JON BIDDLE, DANK ELLY, KIP CORBETT, BILLY PICCIOTTO, JASON BETTS
more talented than many of the teams seeded above them, xdx was prone to losing to teams it should have throttled, and continuing that trend in this tournament could spell certain doom.  a dominating defense led by team taskmaster jon "96 double plays" biddle is this squads calling card, and everyone knows defense wins championships.  except maybe the rams.

#10 SEED
: NATIONAL ASSC. FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF COLORED PENCILS
YEAR:  2001
ROSTER:  JON OLSAVSKY, JAMIE MOROCO, SEAN HOOD
the inaguaral world champions will undoubtedly be put off by a seed as low as ten, but level of competition has to be taken into consideration.  sure, the naacp was without a doubt the best team in '01, but aside from the ass clowns, the sbl offered little competition that year.  can olsavsky, moroco and hood conjur up the same magic that took them to the title in '01?  we shall see.

#11 SEED:  NO TALENT ASS CLOWNS
YEAR:  2001
ROSTER:  NATE TOMKO, JOSH ROBBS. ALBERTA HOOD, LENNY CRIST
another fairly high seeded team without much of a resume, the clowns plaowed their way thru the 2001 season with only two losses before dropping the championship to the naacp.  led by mvp nate tomko and earringed superstar josh robbs, the clowns had talent comparable to the the teams that came after them, but lacked unity.  how will  they match up with the beasts of later seasons?

#12 SEED:  THE VICE CITY MIRACLES
YEAR:
2003
ROSTER:
TED GILLILAND, MATT MCCLELLAND, JON BIDDLE, BEN ELLIOTT, JASON BIDDLE
teddy ballgame, while a superb scout of talent (both mcclelland and biddle were rookie of the year finalists: big mac snagged the tark) could end up costing this "well, they look good in print" team an early upset loss in any number of ways: poor team management, untimely homer shooting, breaking the earth's crust and taking his entire team into a fiery chasm....
