| SBL ALL-STAR GAME AUG 2, 2003 MIDDLESEX COUNTY JAIL SHARON VERSUS THE WORLD the tiny town of sharon, pennsylvania (population: 17,500) rest of the world (population: 5 billion+) WORLD ALL-STARS 14 SHARON ALL-STARS 27 the game started off the wrong way for the world all-stars as sharon's own billy weisberg (weenises) tipped in matt mcclelland's (vice city miracles) leadoff single attempt for a double play. after that play, the humble sharon stars realized they could hang with the mighty world squad, and their confidence pulled them thru for a huge upset win. sharon started weisberg, pj & the ladie's jon olsavsky and shelly goodpastor and nate tomko of gonads & strife. coming off the bench were rando knight (pj & the ladies) and milf hunter kip corbett). for the world all-stars, matt mcclelland was joined in a starting role by fellow miracle jon biddle, as well as transexual heartbreaker and playoff mvp jared clayton and milf hunter mark tarkanick. ted gilliland (miracles) and brian frankovich (weenises) came off the bench. a shelly goodpasor triple brought home 2 in the bottom of the first to build the orange and black's lead to 3-0, and tomko knocked her in seconds late with single. jon biddle and matt mcclelland each collected an rbi in the second to get team world on the board, but sharon answered right back with 4 runs and then looked to their bench to pad the lead. the world made a small run at the sharonites in the middle innings, actually pulling to within one run heading into the bottom of the 5th, thanks in large part to the stellar play of mcclelland. however, that would be the last time they would sniff hope. sharon hit safely 10 consecutive times to expand their lead to 16-7, then clamped down the defense for three consecutive innings, holding the world team hitless in the 6th and 7th and limiting them to a lone single in the 8th. in the ninth, triples by frankovich and biddle showed that the offense hadn't actually died and made thier final run total seem all-star calibur, but by then sharon had added another 8-run inning and the game was very much over. for the victors, shelly goodpastor won all-star mvp honors with a 12 for 13, 9 rbi outing. jon olsavskyhit safely 8 of 12 times with a pair of base-clearers and 4 rbi, as well as a psyche out and 2 dp's. kip corbetthit 5 of 6 shots, including a homer for 4 rbi, and nate tomko put up a 5 for 8, 7 rbi, 1 homer, 2 double play line. matt mcclelland paced the world with 8 hits and 5 rbi. defensively, tarkanick and clayton collected 3 double plays each. off the bench, frankovich hit 3 shots and drove in 2, but was credited with a game-ending dumb thing ROOKIE GAME HOMERUN DERBY BALLOT 2003 |
