THE WORLD  20
SHARON         12
for the third straight season, the world flexed its muscle on the tiny town of sharon, pa, this time pounding out a victor that wasn't nearly as close as the final score indicated.
as in each of the three previous games, the world seemed to be clicking on all cylanders from the start while haron just couldn't seem to get anything substantial going offensively.
after a full team scrum was won by sharon, mcclelland would lead things off for the world with a double.  the sharon defense locked down for the rest of the inning, however, and bryan frankovich's charges finished the inning without a run.
in similair fashion, aryn christman led off the bottom half of the first with a doubel, then watches as tomko and shernisky botched attempts to drive her in.  billy weisberg, however, would not strand christman, plating her with a triple to give his squad a one-run lead heading into the second.  it would be the only lead sharon would see.
starting with mclelland and ending with frankovich's 2-run homer, the world collected six straight hits before a terry shernisky stopped the bleeding with a double play.  the damage would be done, as the score stood at 6-1 as sharon took to the plate for their shot in the second.
tomko led things off with a three-bagger, but sharon did exactly what they couldn't after surrendering such a huge inning- they went scoreless as first shernisky missed, then weisberg, the latter of which went back up for a frankovich double play.
the gap would close for a brief moment in the third as sharon would once again hold the potent world offense off the board, then get two runs from their team wet dream connection to narrow the world lead to 6-3 heading into the fourth.
at this point, both sharon looked to its bench to proved a spark, taking out weisberg in favor of rando knight, but things would only get worse as knight would connect on only one single over the next four inning, thrice making the final out with runners on base.  tomko, shernisky and christman weren't faring any better, and aside from a tomko three-run jack in the fifth, never really put together any of the offensive fireworks many were expecting.
the world on the other hand was having no trouble at all.  in each inning from the 4th thru 8th, they put together a string of at least 3 straight hits, getting 3 runs in the 4th, 5 in the 5th, then 2 each up until the ninth to build a 20-9 lead heading into the last inning.
with the score officially out of hand, sharon finally got their offense on track in the ninth, putting together our consecutive hits to put some makeup on the otherwise ugly finals score before the last of frankovich's 4 double plays finally put the game in the record books.
frankovich garnered game m.v.p. laurels with his 8 of 12, 2 homer, 7 rbi outing.  mcclelland added 6 hits and 4 rbi, mike moroco 2 homers and 5 runs batted in.  ben smith finished with a 4 for 7, 1 homer, 4 rbi contest.
for sharon, shernisky led the way with 6 hits, but collected only 3 rbi.  tomko had another solid but unspectacular all-star outing, hitting on half of his 10 shots with a homer and 5 rbi.  tomko and sherry evenly divided 6 double plays.

notes
with the win, the world now leads the all-time series 3-1.  sharon dominated the first game, winning 27-14 in 2002. since then, it's been the world by scores of 15-13 in 2004 and 19-13 last year.

this is bryan frankovich's second straight all-star game mvp.  the only other player to win two game mvp's was jon olsavsky (2001, 2002).  other winners have been: shelley goodpastor, sharon (03) and mike moroco, the world (04).
