LACKEY/MOROCO  10
NESPOR/KNIGHT    11 (10 INNINGS)
jeff knight's solo homerun to lead off the bottom of the tenth sealed the win for the nespor/knight clan in the sbl's first-ever family fued.
the heavily-favored lackey team jumped out to an early lead, as many expected against a nespor squad short on defense.  pat hit a 2-out solo homer in the first at-bat of the game to give his team a 1-0 lead, and after a dennis double play kept team nespor off the board in the bottom of the first, pat tallied his second rbi, this time on a single to plate dennis.
trailing by a pair and already down to their final out in the second, the nespor/knight connection got back-to-back two-baggers from pat and pj to get on the board.  the lackey's, however, built their lead right back up with a couple more runs in the top of the third, and lee nespor could muster no more than a solo jack in response, and the pjs trailed the lackeys 4-2 heading into the middle innings.
pj nespor continued to shoulder the load for his brothers as the game wore on, plating 2 more himself in the bottom of the fourth.  then, in the fifth, he put back a big bases-loaded double play to stall out what could have been a big inning for the lack's just in time to get some help from the bench in the form of the knight brothers.
the knight brothers promptly missed 2 shots, the second going back for a dennis lackey double play, to kill the fifth for the pjs and keep the score at 6-4 in favor of feather hair.
following a 1-2-solo homer-3 inning from the moroco's (who had just checked in) and dennis, the nespor/knight orgy finally got the lead back with a quartet of runs in the bottom of the sixth to take an 8-7 lead.  pj knocked in two more during the fray, pushing closer to his game-high 5 ribbies.
the four powerhous families, both of which would have lost to a biddle squad and most likely a mclaughlin team, traded runs over the next few innings, and felt as though 9 innings weren't enough to break a 10-all deadlock and decided to play an extra one to settle things.  unfortunately, the lackey's didn't really have their heart set on that last inning, and never advanced a runner past first depsite some atrocious defense from pj, rando and jeff.  then, they didn't even kick jeff in the nuts as he attempted the game winning homer.  bitches.
pj finished with 7 hits in 13 at-bats and 5 driven in for the nespors.  jeff led all knights with 3 hits and 3 rbi.
for the lackeys, dennis hit safely on 5 of 17 attempts with 3 double plays and a psyche out.  mike led the moroco's with 7 hits and four driven in.
