THE WEENISES                          7
after going a depressing 0-6 against their 2002 nemises, the weenises of ween farmartino failed in their final bid to defeat the pink bandana girls of captain sean hood.
the PBG swept the season series in '02 against the weenises, then put them out of the playoffs with a pair of 15-run ass whuppings. while many would contend the weenises, boasting a future hall of famer in billy weisberg and a trifecta of perrenial all-stars in corbett, farrell and moroco had the talent to stack up against the mighty pink bandana girls, they never managed to be competitive in any of their first half-dozen clashes.  with 2 years of bitterness in their mouths, the weenises were chomping at the bit to get a second chance at the PBG.
the action came early as fred shaffer and kip corbett went tooth and nail in the scrum, with corbett eventually crossing the line after giving what some peorple might consider a cheap shot to shaffer, a thumb to the eye followed by a low blow.  showing no love loss for the competition, clayton came to the aid of his teammate, shoving corbett from behind.  only the threat of ejections from referee matt mcclelland kept order between the two rivals.
the hoffa centre hoop was unkind early an neither team was able to score in their first at-bat, with the weenises getting a double play from weisberg and clayton tapping one in for the girls.
in the second, clayton led off with a solo homer to break the scoreless tie, but hood and biddle went down in succession, the latter to a moroco d.p. to quickly halt any rally.
weisberg and farrell turned to small ball to kot the game at 1, going back to back from the double line.  moroco hit the third double, but referee mcclelland ruled she had crossed the line, wiping the run out.  farmartino argued the call and had to be restrained by head of security ted gilliland.  after exhausting herself yelling at mcclelland and struggling with teddy ballgame, ween lacked the strength to reach the rim with her triple attempt.
the score remained at 1-1 into the fifth as weisberg and clayton earned their second and third d.p.'s of the contest over the next 2 stanzas.
in the top of the fifth, the PBG offense awoke from its slumber.  hood led off the inning with a three-bagger, and biddle and shaffer followed suit.  clayton swished through a middle homer to make the count 5-1, but the PBG was far from done.  hood moved in to the single line and banked one through, and biddle made it second and third with no outs with his double.  shaffer drove in his 2nd and 3rd rbi of the inning with a left double before clayton's homer attempt was tipped in for 2 by weisberg.  hood put one off the backboard to hard  one batter later to end the inning, but the damage had been done as the weenises found themselves in a familiar spot: looking up a huge defecit at the pink bandana girls.
the weenises looked to their bench, bringing in jason betts and corbett for moroco and farmartino, respectively, and quickly found a spark in the most unlikely form.  after farrell led off the inning with a single, jason betts of all people cut into the 7-run hole with a 2-run homer.  corbett  followed with a single, and was fouled by biddle attempting an assist on weisberg'd left homer.  the homer was ruled good, and suddenly the PBG lead was down to 2 at 7-5.
the top of the  sixth inning saw only a fred shaffer homer from the bandana girls, but thanks to shaffer's double play in the bottom of the inning, the weenises were unable to answere even that.
heading into the seventh and being unable to put away their opponents, the pink bandana girls were getting frusturated.  after clayton attempted his 6th solo shot of the game, this time his miss resulting in a corbett double play, PBG captain sean hood had a few words for his superstar's shot selection.  after a heated exchange, biddle and shaffer were able to smooth things over between their teammates.  brought to life by the altercation, hood followed up clayton's miss with a double.  biddle and shaffer each tallied extra base hits of their own, and clayton proved he wasn't a one-trick pony with a run-scoring double to extend the PBG lead to 12-5.
though they threatened, the weenises couldn't muster a single run in the bottom of the seventh as shaffer put back a one-out, bases loaded triple attempt by weisberg.
the eighth saw no change in the score, either, as both squads only sent 3 batters to the plate and no runner got past second.
heading into the ninth, the weenises got a pep-talk from captain ween farmartino, who had made a friendly wager with ted gilliland (who was actually a member of the PBG briefly)  on the game.  upon hearing the stipulations of the bet (if the weenises were to lose, ween would have to go on a date with mr. ballgame...) the weenises as a whole  vowed to win or die trying.
unfortunately, neither would happen.  tho weisberg was able to hit a 2-out, 2-run homer to make the score respectable, the weenises would never really threated the PBG.
while hood, biddle, shaffer and clayton celebrated their seventh in a row against ween's team, miss farmartino hung herself in the moroco family bathroom to avoid spending any time with ted.  undeterred, ted loaded ween's lifeless body into the trunk of his car for a night of partying.
