THE WEENISES STRIKE BACK   8
despite a perfect 8-for-8 game by jbh's big rando knight, the weenises were able to hold off the bottom seeded heroes for a thrilling 2-run victory.
knight, who hit nothing but middle doubles, seemed energized by his hard-fought loss to billy weisberg in the scrum.  over the first four innings he was the only hero to reach base, a feat which was eventually duplicated by his teammates during a late-game run at the weenis lead.
following a scoreless first inning, the weenises got on the board in the second when jamie moroco, playing in her first game for the weenises strike back since mid-july 2k3, drove in bryan frankovich with a double.  two batters later, frankovich returned the favor, draining a middle homer to expand the weenis lead to 3-0.
weisberg and knight exchanged double plays in the third, with the big mans coming on a missed moroco homer with the bases loaded.    in the fourth, the weenises padded their lead when frankovich, moroco and weisberg went back to back to back from the triple lines, plating 2 more runs before lee nespor recorded the difficult "psych 'em out/double play" combo to stop the bleeding.
given new life, knight gave his charges a huge pep talk prior to the fourth, then led off the inning with his third straight double.  from second base, the big man further provided a spark, tipping in a jeremy battyani homer miss for an assist and plating jukebox's first 2 run of the game.  danielle hennon recorded a single to run the hit streak to 3, but nespor and battyani each missed, the latter resulting in a frankovich double play, to end the inning.
the fifth and 6th frames were both scoreless, keeping the game close heading into the late innings.
trailing 2-5, jukebox tied the game in the 7th when knight was driven in by a one-out hennon double and, one batter later, lee nespor recorded a two-run homer.
the jukebox quasi-lead was short-lived, however, as weisberg led off the weenis half of the 7th with a triple.  pat lackey, fresh off the bench, mane flowing in the wind, knocked him in with a single to break the tie.  one knight double play later, jamie moroco plated lackey, and the weenises regained the lead.
that's when things got ugly.  seth salcedo came into the game in the top of the eighth for jukebox and quickly launched a single attempt over the backboard.  big rando, sensing salcedo's gay love affair with mikey moroco and bryan frankovich was cloouding his loyalties to jbh, gave salcedo the beating of a lifetime, pummeling him in the breadbasket as hero captain danielle hennon held him up.  referee ben elliott, coincidentally, was looking the other way during the beating, so no penalties were issued.
salcedo's miss changed the entire complexion of the game for the surging heroes, who promptly tossed up two more misses to end the inning.
the weenises were able to smallball their way to two more runs in the bottom of the eighth, but the game was over for all intents and purposes as salcedo's blood has made conditions on the court nearly unplayable.
rando led off the final inning with a double, but weakened from the salcedo beating, was unable to box out as weisberg tipped in a game ending double play.
knight finished with 3 rbi and 4 double plays to pace jukebox.  lee nespor recorded an psyche out, and rbi and a double play.
weisberg tipped in 4 double plays, and frankovich and jamie moroco each drove in 6 for the weenises.
