| PJ & THE LADIES IV 8 PJ & THE LADIES II 12 in one of the greatest scrums of all time, the 2002 edition of pj & the ladies sent big rando knight into battle against 2004's... pj nespor and big rando knight. the hard-fought 5-minute scrum was eventually won by '02 rando, who was able to outlast the older version of himself. the elder rando blamed the loss on his recent smoking addiction, one which left him out of breath long before the tip-top shape rand02 got winded. despite jumping out to an early 6-0 lead, the 2002 version of pj & the ladies had what was far from an easy time with thebig red machine of '04. steve "the sex machine" mentrek came out of the gate swinging, burying 3 homers in the first two innings. his solo shot with two down in the first gave '02 a 1-run lead. in the top of the second, the '04 ladies threatened, loading up the bases with only one out, but lenny crist's missed homer was put back by '02's pj nespor to stop the rally. in the bottom of the second, mentrek continued to rain homers, burying a pair of 2-run longballs. between the mentrek homers, rando knight was able to drive in two of his own with a triple. joel lepak capped the scoring in the second with a run-scoring double before '04 pj pulled down '02 pj's third miss of the inning. the score reamined 8-0 until the seventh inning, when the 04 ladies finally got on the board in big fashion, plating 6 runs on the strength of 8 consecutive hits. highlighting the inning was lenny crist's bases-loaded triple and pj nespor's put-back of a greg lackey miss for a run-scoring homer. in the bottom of the seventh, 02pjl dropped 4 more runs onto the scoreboard as katie burger came off the bench for a 3-run homer, he ronly shot of the game. in the eighth, mentrek drilled his fourth and final homer of the contest, this time of the solo species, the extend the lead to 12-6. the '04 ladies, never a squad to give up, loaded the bases with no outs on back-to-back-to-back singles by knight, crist and lackey. sean hood then banked in a two-run double to close the gap to 4, but knight, still winded from the scrum, airballed a 3-run homer which was tapped back in by mentrek. looking to end the game on one shot, crist then launched a grand slam over the superdome garage, ending the contest. for the victorous ladies, steve mentrek garnered game mvp honors with a 6 for 12, 4 homer, 7 rbi line with 2 double plays. pj nespor added 3 double plays. for the losing ladies, crist drove in 4 on 5 of 9 marksmanship.
