A FEW RANDOM THINGS FOR YOU TO GLANCE AT ALL SBL TEAM FOR WEEK 3 (based only on week 3's play) - lee nespor, the short bus all-stars: in a loss to donkey punch, nespor kept his team in the game till the bitter end and finished with a 5 for 5 effort with 4 homeruns and all 5 of his team's runs batted in. while his second and third games of the week didn't quite measure up to his monster first, lee did manage to contribute 6 rbi in the lone short bus week 3 win. - nate tomko, the serbian jew double bluffs: in two 6-inning wins for his bluffs, tomko turned in 10 for 14 performance with 5 homers and 17 runs batted in while turning 6 double plays. - dennis lackey, hoosier daddy: with mikey moroco in europe, tark wherever the hell tark goes, and bryan frankovich playing basekeball more like he should have been from week 1, fuzzyhead lackey picked up the slack to keep hoosier daddy in first place by posting two huge games. 17 runs batted in week two is only one rbi less than dennis collected in all of 2003. - jon biddle, xdeathx: 15 double plays in two consecutive games has got to be some sort of record. if only someone had the desire to actually look that up. anyway, j.bidd made the sbl his bitch on the boards in week 2, cancelling out the fact that he got blown out by a depleted hoosier mama. - pat lackey, donkey punch: 13/22, 3 homers, 12 rbi. when feather hair lackey has his line drive jumper going on as he did in week 3, he's as good offensively as any player in the league. here's hoping he gets to play at a lot more downward-sloping courts. guess which underappreciated sbl star posted these numbers in sbl week 3: (answer below) 13/16 (.812 avg.), 6 runs batted in playoff picture if the season ended today: 1) hoosier daddy (5-1) VS 4) team donkey punch (4-2) 2) the serbian jew double bluffs (5-1) VS 3) xdeathx (4-2) (hoosier daddy owns the tiebreaker over sj2b thanks to their week 1 win over the bluffs, while xdeathx is seeded over donkey punch thanks to a tougher strength of schedule) highest scoring team thru the first 3 weeks of the season: hoosier daddy & the serbian jew double bluffs (14 runs per game) best defensive team thru 3 weeks: team donkey punch (6.3 runs per game against) ROOKIE OF THE YEAR WATCH katie kelly, serbian jew double bluffs: average dipped down a bit in week 4, to 4.89, second amongst all sbl rooks. aside from average, lacks the high stats associated with rookie of the year candidate, but plays as much defense as any female player in the league, and has tipped in a double play even while playing alongside nate tomko, matt mcclelland and jon olsavsky on defense. dank elly, xdeathx: power numbers continue to rise. currently, dank sits at 10 homers and 17 rbi, both tops for rookies. has cooled down a bit over the last couple of weeks, but so has the rest of his team. needs to become more of a well-rounded player to officially claim the inside track to the tark trophy... .380 average and 4 double plays ain't gettin' er done. jeff pallini, short bus all-stars: hitting .619, as jeff has thus far, is damn hard. so hard, in fact, that only one sbl player has a better average at this point in the season. unfortunately, all those hits don't equal bunches of runs as jeff plays in the anemic offense of the short bus all stars. 1 homer and 0 double plays aren't pretty stats, either, especially playing on a team where those are few and far between. billy picciatto, xdeathx: definately the most talented rookie in the league, picciotto has lived up to the hype in spite of an ankle injury that has kept under 100% so far. a .415 average with 11 rbis and 4 longballs are nice numbers, and as soon as that wheel heals up (and biddle lets a ball drop below the rim) those double play and assist numbers should soar. THE BAILEY WATCH: phil nespor, pj & the ladies: after missing the first two weeks of the season (presumably show shopping), pj returned to the sbl with almost no noise, and certainly the little noise he did make wasn't the sound of the ball swishing thru the net. current average for mr. nespor? .152. sadly, that's only .152 above the average of his lovely wife, cassie. andy esenwein, pj & the ladies: there are two reasons why people win the covented sbl least valuable player unaward. being really bad, or being really good and showing up way less than your team needs you to. guess which category former sbl all-star andy esenwein falls in to? shelly goodpastor, the serbian jew double bluffs: alright, she's not bad enough to be on this list. but i'm keeping her here until that average gets back above .500 where it belongs. ben elliott, xdeathx: maybe ted was onto something last season as he sat big whitey on the bench for months on end. ben's jaw-dropping numbers in 2004: 0 homers, .294 average, 2 rbi, 0 assists, 0 double plays, 1 psyche out in 5 games played. ugh. the mystery stat belonged to none other than serbian jew double bluff captain matt mcclelland 2004 |
