| MAIN EVENT: THE SHARON VERSUS THE WORLD BASEKETBALL ALL-STAR GAME |
| SHARON co-captain: nate tomko, queenie mentrek sbl legend nate tomko once again captains the sharon all star team, this time sharing the honors with fellow legend billy weisberg. this could be the last time we see him suit up, if we haven't seen it already. co-captain: billy weisberg, pj & the ladies the hall of famer led pj & the ladies to their second championship appearance. he also finished 4th in the league in rbi (97) and assists (5) in what may have been his best season. terry shernisky, opie and the e street band hit 88 homers, shattering the previous record of 65. only 6 other players have that many homers in their entire career. had he not abandoned his team twice in the regular season, he would have won the poty race by a landslide. big rando knight, pj & the ladies another hall of famer enjoying his best season. the all time leader in games played enjoys spooning, a good cry, the company of other men, drinking any beer he can get his paws on and using chapstick to excess. katie kelly, queenie mentrek despite another .600 season, she still can't crack the sharon starting lineup. this is katie's third all star selection and will (hopefully) be the second time she actually plays. jon olsavsky, the millivanilliseconds catapulted into the last all star slot by virtue of a perfect game in week 9. few expected jon to show up as often as he did and even fewer expected him to be an all star. |
| THE WORLD captain: pj o'conner, honest abe's truth brigade will he force billy deforest to shoot left handed? with a beer in his hand? will he let billy play at all? time will tell as the tables are turned for honest abe teammates pj o'conner and billy deforest. matt mcclelland, opie and the e street band set career highs in average (.624) and assists (7) and also chipped in on defense with 24 double plays. big mac has played 7 seasons and has been an all star every one of them. ben smith, queenie mentrek the frontrunner for sbl most improved player may have made a good case for himself to get into the hall of fame with his on court play and off court contributions. he is the first player since 2005 to finish a season with a .700 average. bob spohn, walker told me i have aids how does the lvp frontrunner and arguably worst captain in league history grab a starting spot on the world all star team? the 31 homers and 79 rbi help. finishing in the top 10 in double plays (24) helps too. billy deforest, honest abe's truth brigade i guess nobody looked at the stats when voting for their all star rosters. if they did, they would have seen billy d ahead of bob spon in homers (35 to 31), games played (23 to 18), rbi (84 to 79) average (.412 to .401) and the average number of players. each captain got to show up a week (2 to 0) bryan frankovich, walker told me i have aids barely sneaking in the last slot, his numbers are very similar to chris errett, except for that .374 average and playing in 6 less games. one can argue, however, that he didn't have as good of a supporting cast as errett and was therefore forced to try and do more by himself. |
