THE WORLD  16
SHARON         17
after emerging from the inagural sharon vs. the world all-star game victorious in 2003, sharon found themselves on the losing end of three consecutive showdowns with the world heading into the 2007 classic in spite of having what many considered a superior roster in each of the contests.  things were no different this season, as sharon boasted the dynamic 1-2 punch of player of the year nate tomko and player of the final eight weeks terry shernisky.  however, this would finally be the year that the talent on the orange and black roster finally pulled out the win.
joining tomko and shernisky on the sharon starting line were 7-time all star billy weisberg and 6-time star rando knight.  coming off the bench were late sub jon olsavsky and first time all-star terry shernisky, both of the screamin seagulls.
suiting up for the world team were captain bryan frankovich and fellow hot fuzzer mike moroco, three-time all-star ben smith, and first timer jamie fabian.  coming off the bench were 5-time star matt mcclelland and jamie moroco, who makes her first appearance in 6 seasons.
once again dominating the full team scrum as they had in years past, sharon earned themselves the all-importnant last at-bats, which would prove huge down the stretch.
the game got off to a slow start, as neither team was able to advance a runner past second over the first two innings.  then, in the third, the world finally got the ball rolling when ben smith led off the stanza with a double, and was then brought home via a mike moroco homerun.  smith would drive in another run a few batters later, giving the world an early 3-0 lead before a shernisky psyche out would bring the rally to a halt.
sharon would waste little time answering the scoring, as tomko led off the bottom of the third with a middle three-bagger.  following a shernisky miss, tomko was plated by a knight double.  weisberg drove in knight, then sherinsky cleared the bases with a middle homer to give sharon a 4-3 lead after three.
having found their rythym, the world kept right on small balling their way to runs in the fourth.  ben smith drove in three of his squads four runs in the inning, and only a tomko psycheout-double play combo prevented their from being rfurther damage.
once more, sharon would answer the call.  a solo shot from shernisky and a two run longball from weisberg would give the tigers a three-run frame and knot the game at 7 heading into the fifth.
after adding another run in the top of the inning, the world finally got the stop they needed in the bottom of the fifth.  fresh off the bench for knight, terry hall wathced his triple attempt get put back through by frankovich for a double play.  olsavsky, in for weisberg, faired no better as his single attempt went in and out for a one-two inning.
sharon, however, was not going to let this trent continue.  also taking advantage of some cold shooters just entering the game, tomko earned a psyche out of jamie moroco, then shernisky double played matt mcclelland for a quick half-inning of work.
trailing 7 to 8 in the bottom of the 6th, sharon once again exploded offensively.  tomko got the ball rolling with a middle triple, then cleared the bags four batters later with a two run jack.  shernisky followed with a solo shot before a mike moroco double play ended the rally.  the damage to the worlds' lead was done, however, as sharon accumulated 6 runs in the inning to take a commanding 13-8 lead.
  or so they assumed.
sticking with the gameplan that had gotten them this far, the world team kept right on nickel and diming their way to runs in the top of the seventh.  mike moroco led off the frame with a triple, and was plated by a mcclelland three-bagger.  jamie moroco drove in mac with a single, smith tallied another rbi via a triple, then byan frankovich and jamie moroco went back to back from the double stripe to give the world 5 runs of their own before another shernisky double play snuffed out the rally.
now tied up at 13, sharon looked for another big inning to build another cushion.  they got only one, however, a shernisky solo shot.  in the eighth inning, the world would once again tie up the contest, and dharon would add on just one more to hold on to the slimmest of leads.  this time it was tomko's solo shot that did the damage.
into the ninth the game went, with sharon clinging to a 15-14 lead.  ben smith led off the inning with a triple, and things looked bright for the world.  after a mcclelland miss, jamie moroco would tie up the contest with a middle double.  mike moroco then doubled in his sister, setting things up for ben smith, who had been hot all day.  with the chance to give his team a 2-run lead, ben missed a side double which was tipped back through for a huge double play by terry hall to send the game to the bottom of the ninth.
trailing by one, sharon got just what they needed as terry hall reached first base to lead things off.  after a brief discussion between tomko and shernisky, it was decided that sharon should try to bukkake tsunami their way to a win, as it seemeed unlikely both would miss a homer.  tomko batted first, and narrowly missed ending the contest.  then, with one down in the bottom of the ninth and trailing by 1, the homerun derby champion stroked through a side homerun to send his team to victory and erase three seasons of misfortune for the entire town of sharon.
sherniaky was named the game most valuable player with a 6 for 10, 6 homerun line which included 9 rbi, 4 double plays and a psyche out.  tomko also went 6 for 10, with a pair of jacks, 3 rbi, 1 assist, 2 double plays and a psyche out.  rando knight hit three of four shots, and weisberg went 2 for 5 with a homer and 3 ribbies.  off the bench, both olsavsky and hall hit two shots and drove in a run.
for the world, who set a new all-star game record low for homeruns with 1, ben smith went 6 for 11 with 6 rbi.  mike moroco hit 7 of 12 shots with his teams only longball and4 rbi.  bryan frankovich tipped in 3 double plays.
off the bench, matt mcclelland hit on 3 of 5 attempts and drove in 2.  jamie moroco put up a 4 for 6, 3 rbi line.
