HOOSIER DADDY 9 PJ & THE LADIES 10 (10 innings) remember when sbl games that ended with a walk-off homer were few and far between. i guess the days of double-double to get a single run are behind us. greg lackey, in his first game for pj & the ladies since week 5, calmly swished home a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the tenth inning to give his team a much needed win against a solid opponent in their final game of the season. after hoosier daddy built a 4-0 lead after two, the ladies slowly began crawling back into the game. one run in the third, three in the fifth, and by the time lackey hit a solo homerun in the 6th, the ladies found themselves ties up with the second place team in the sbl. led by defensive stalwart big rando knight, the ladies locked down the defense untilt the top of the ninth, when hoosier daddy scored three thanks in part to a two-run dong by mikey chang. fully expecting the ladies to fold, hoosier daddy let two balls that should have been double played hit the ground, but big rando hit a run scoring triple, then two batters later, brought himself in with a 2-run jack to force some free baseketball. dennis lackey padded his all-star worthy stats by leading off the top of the 11th with a triple, but was left stranded as mikey chang's miss was tipped in by knight and brandon mckendry's homer attempt bounced in and out, allowing for the red-clad lackey to take his game-ending shot. for the ladies (7-13), lackey hit on 7 of 10 attempts with a homer and 4 driven in. knight tipped in 4 dp's and an assist while driving in 3. chang drove in 5 for the losers, and dennis lackey hit in half of his 8 at-bats. hoosier daddy ended the season in second with an 11-9 mark, and secured the #2 seed with a tougher strength of schedule than xdeathx/wsac, who had yet to play their final game. TEAM DONKEY PUNCH 7 XDEATHX/WSAC 13 (4 innings) the fraud of a game was called by referee brandon mckendry in the bottom of the 6th with xdx's jon biddle 4 double plays short of 100 when donkey punch had nobody left in the game. the shenanigans began in the third when dennis lackey was whistled for a phantom foul, then sent to the penalty box by mckendry for arguing the call. pj & the ladies director of chaos rando knight immediately leapt on the oppurtunity, chirping in featherhair's ears the joys of anarchy. lackey was apparently receptive, and as billy picciatto's homer fell to the earth, lackey sprang into action, snaring the ball and running across the westminster college campus screaming about facism. mckendry, unable to penalize someone already in the box, dealt a 2-inning trip to the sin bin to acting d.p. captain jamie moroco, who seemed dismayed at the actions of her teammate. upon realizing he was the only donkey punch member left in the contest, jason biddle pulled a ted gilliland, tossing chairs and scoreboards onto the court and yelling about being hungry. mckednry quickly tossed him in the box, then ruled the game over before being sucker punched in the face by jon biddle. chaos ensued. rando reveled, then assaulted jon biddle, humping him to the ground as the double play champ whined about not being able to get 100. lackey and moroco, upon presidnet nate tomko's urging, emptied the ice, water, and beer from the cooler onto knight and biddle, soaking the court and biddle's undies. when order was finally restored some 10 minutes later, seth salcedo of hoosier daddy had been relieved of is extra small shorts and bryan frankovich was face down in a garbage can. what a way to end the season. for the winning smokers, jon biddle was high man with 2 innings of penalties. in a losing effort, pat lackey collected 5 penalty innings, jamie moroco and jason biddle each garnered 2. president tomko issued a full presidential pardon to all member of the game, including mckendry, clearing the penatly slate for the playoffs. 2004 |
