HOOSIER DADDY                       16
THE SHORT BUS ALL-STARS  13  (10 INNINGS)
SCRUM:  a full sbl, best two-of-three scrum that i cannot do justice in print.  you had to be there....it was a sight to behold.

short bus, more hungry for a win than ted for anything, seemed poised to take their first of the day, a win against an sbl frontrunner that hopefully could have sent themselves on a winning streak of epic preportions.  instead, after building an 11-4 lead over 6 full innings, they broke down in epic preportion.
chris mclaughlin led short bus to a seemingly insurmountable lead and short bus looked to be on cruise control against a hoosier daddy lineup that looked like they had already come to terms with their second loss of the evening.  except for the never-say-die dennis lackey, who shot a dose of life into his beleaguered teammates with a grand slam (his second of the day) to start off the 7th.  the rest of hoosier followed lackey's lead, and crossed the plate twice more in the 7th to cut the lead to 11-10.
once again, short bus answered back.  mclaughlin's two-out, two-run triple in the bottom of the eighth rebuilt the lead to three.  short bus looked to hold onto a lead identical to the one they had blown earlier in the day against a similairly inferior team.
again, they blew it.  a dennis lackey triple cleared the bases with two gone in the ninth and following the formaility of short bus not scoring in the bottom of the ninth with the game on the line, we headed into extra innings.
this time, the pain was less drawn out for teddy ballgame's charges, and bryan frankovich's two-run triple highlighted a 3-run top of the tenth for hoosier daddy.  the formality followed, and short bus dropped another heartbreaker.
mclaughlin can't be blamed for the loss, as his 11 for 16, 1 homer, 8 rbi game was best in show.
dennis lackey had another stellar outing, collecting 11 runs batted in with 2 homers, a double play and an assist.  bryan frankovivh helped his team's cause with 6 of 13 shooting and a pair each of double plays and assists.
short bus?  2-8.  hoosier daddy?  6-2.

TEAM DONKEY PUNCH  9
XDEATHXWSAC               5
aside from one inning, xdeathx totally outplayed team donkey punch.  unfortunately for j.bidd and co., that one inning was the 8-run top of the first donkey punch spread on them, and they spent the enite game trying to erase a defecit they couldn't overcome.
in that big initial stanza, jared clayton banged home two 2-run homers and donkey punch hit 8 of 9 shots before jon biddle could put in his first double play to stop the bloodletting.  it proved to be all donkey punch needed as x chipped away at, but never wiped out the lead.
back to back to back doubles in the 4th got x on the board, and a 2-run homerun by billy picciotto in the 6th gave them life, but the defense of clayton, pat lackey and jkurt rodemoyer proved too much for the low-scoring, defensive-minded xdeathx to stomach. especially without their emotional leader ben elliott, who will probably miss the remainder of the season with a torn acl.
biddle's 6 double play performance has become ho-hum as he does it with such ease.  picciotto's 3 runs batted in were high on his squad, which fell to 4-4 and have dropped 4 of their last 5.
for the victors (6-2), pat lacket drilled hits in 7 of 12 trips to the plate.  jared clayton added 6 runs batted in with 2 homers and 5 double plays.

PJ & THE LADIES  4
JUKEBOX HERO    2
what can i say about a 4-2 game when i've already written 7 summaries?
-both teams played bad.  pj&l just played a little less bad.
-i'm sure mcclelland (of sj2b) and clayton (of donkey punch), both of who played on jukebox, were glad their actual teams didn't play this bad today or neither would have gone 2-0
-not even joel could have saved this yawnfest
-at least these teams don't play each other every week
-well, maybe joel could have saved it
-greg lackey went 5 for 10 with and rbi and 2 double plays.  and that was far and away the best line on the ladies
-addam stainbrook hit 4 of 6 with 2 double plays in his final sbl game of the season (good luck fighting for our country, buddy), and that was the highlite for his heroes
  -i'm glad i'm done with these write-ups.  i'm beat.
