DONKEY PUNCH   4
PJ & THE LADIES  3  (10 inn)
after a pretty blah scrum which, if i remember correctly, was forfeited by donkey punch, both teams used the energy they conserved to put on some offensive fireworks.  rookie greg lackey crossed the plate to get the scoring started in the bottom of the second, driven home by brendan radcliffe.  dp fired right back, however, with a devestating rn-scoring single by elysa farrell. then,  in the top half of the seventh, donkey punch exploded for 2 runs, thanks in large part to the stellar hitting of farrell.  the ladies would not go quietly into the cool may nite and big rando knight's solo homer in the bottom of the ninth forced...mother of god...extra innings.  would these two juggernauts ever stop scoring?
yes.  pat lackey hit home elysa farrell in the top of the dimeth, and the ladies had no answer.  final count, 4-3.
for the people who scored 4 runs, elysa farrell went 6 for 13 with 2 rbi and patrick "the stogie" lackey went 4 for 13 with 3 double plays and a psyche out.  for those who scored three runs, big rando was the catylyst, hitting 4 of 13 with a homer and 5 dp's.

HOOSIER DADDY  7
XDEATHX               10
the battle of unbeatens got off the a rockin' start, with rookie brian mckendry knocking down a huge three-run homer in the top of the first to get the game underway.  however, the early rally went the way of so many rally's before it, snuffed out at it's peak by a mikey moroco dumb thing.  xdeathxwsac took advantage, crossing twice in the home half of the first, then spread it on in the second, scroing 4 on the strength of back to back to back triples by jon bidd, and rookie's billy picciotto and dank elly.
being down for the first time all season was too much for the youngsters to take, and they cracked like nate's skull at a frat party, scoring only 4 runs in the final 8 stanzas.  meanwhile, death had it on cruise control, and early homer leader elly swished thru a pair of 2-run homers to seal the deal.
for the winners, billy picciotto hit on half of his 10 attempts and drove in 2 and dank hit 5 of 9 with 6 rbi and 2 longballs.  on the defensive side, the always tough jon biddle tipped in 3.
for h.d., frankovich went 5 for 10 with a homer and 3 runs batted in.

TEDDY'S SHORT BUS ALL-STARS      3
THE SERBIAN JEW DOUBLE BLUFFS  7
the high powered bluffs offense, even sparked by the return of nate tomko, looked lost in their first game back together.  the always steady shelly goodpastor looked like a pj & the ladies bench warmer, captain matt mcclelland couldn't find the bottom of the hoop to save his life, tomko and addam stainbrook looked like they were playing the game under the influence of special altoids.
fortunately, they were playing teddy gilliland's team, so they still won handily.
nate tomko was high man for his team, going 4 for 8 with 5 rbi's, a homer, and assist, a psyche out and a double play, marking only the second time in sbl history that a player got into the scorebook in all 6 categories.  big mac hit 3 of 8 with an assist and a d.p.
for the all-stars, billy weisberg went 3 of 7 with a pair od double plays, while both ted and homerun champion lee nespor hit solo jobs.

PJ & THE LADIES     0
HOOSIER DADDY  16  (6 inn)
you know how pj & the ladies  have a tendancy to ruin the integrity of the game if they get down by 5?  that's what happened here.
after keeping the score close for the first two innings, the ladies sloppy defense allowed hoosier daddy to hit two big homers in the bottom of the third and stretch the lead to 6-0.  at this point, the gerbil powering big rando's head went into hyper-speed, and he attempted to swat every shot taken.  while it should point out he succeeded in absolutely zero attempts, his antics were enough for himself to be penalized and eventually ejected, and the game to be called in the home half of the 6th.
for the winners (3-1), mikey moroco had 6 of 8 shooting with 3 homers (including a grand slam) and 9 rbi gift-wrapped for him, bryan frankovich was handed the keys to a 5 for 8, 2 homer, 3 rbi line and, much like a kennedy high school girl in a shopping mall, big daddy rando whipped out his credit card and amexed brian mckendry 6 of 8 shooting with 2 homers and 4 runs batted in.
  for the ladies....ah, fuck it.

TEDDY'S SHORT BUS ALL-STAR EXPERIENCE  12
after seemingly having the game wrapped up well into the latter stages, thanks in large part to the splendid inside play of billy "tank top" weisberg and bacon cheeseburger hitting of teddy ballgame, the short bussers (1-3) nearly blew the game and would have been forced to spend another long week in the ranks of the winless.  tank top would have none of it, and the skinny jew from little sharon, pa took matter into his own hands in the top of the ninth, tipping in his 6th double play of the game to secure the win away from the rallying heartbreakers/donkey punchers.
weisberg led his team on the offensive side of the ball as well, hitting 7 of 13 attempts for 4 rbi.  billy also tipped in a ted gilliland miss for an assist in the third, keeping a 5 run inning alive.  gilliland also hit on 7 shots, bust had a pair of homers and 5 rbi as well as a psyche out.
for the losers (3-1), hopalong clayton hit a pair of late homers on one leg and finished with 5 rbi, jason biddle hit a two-run homer in the top of the 7th, and it should also be noted the jamie moroc tipped in a double play.

THE SERBIAN JEW DOUBLE BLUFFS  20 (6 INN)
after barely squeaking out a win over a lesser team a couple games earlier, the bluffs once again took the court looking to find their rythym.  against the winless heroes, they did just that, turning up the heat on the yellow mesh army for a whopping 20 runs in 5 innings of work.
tomko and mcclelland went back to back in the bottom of the first after a mcclelland double play snuffed out an early scoring by tipping in a double play in the top half of the inning.  three consecutive doubles by rookie katie kelly, shelly goodpastor and tomko wrapped up the inning and the bluffs had built a 4-0 lead.
the lead expanded over the next few innings, with tomko tipping in a big mac miss in the second, then nailing a traditional grand slam in the third to help build an 11-2 lead heading into the fifth.  and that's when things got real ugly for the hapless heroes, as the bluffs reeled on nine consecutive hits, clearing the shot chart, and put nine runs across the dish to finish with a nice, round 20 tallies.
for the losers, lee nespor hit a pair of 2-run homers to carry his team.
for the serbian jews (3-1), shelly goodpastor hit on 6 of 9 attempts with 4 runs batted in, matt mcclelland hit on half of his 6 at-bats with 3 rbi, a homer and 2 double plays, and katie kelly went 4 of 9.  tomko hit on 8 of 9 attempts with 3 homers, 10 runs batted in, 2 double plays and 2 assists.

XDEATHX                6
JUKEBOX HERO  10
in a david versus goliath battle, the then-winless heroes were able to pull off an improbably win against undefeated xdeathx.  however, these weren't your grandpa's JBH's, as these beefed up david's featured 3 time all-american big rando knight and 2 time sbl player of the year nate tomko, as well as former homerun derby champ lee nespor and the incomperable danielle hennon.
big rando tied the sbl record, batting 1.000 by hitting safely on all 8 of his shots and taalying 2 rbi.  tomko finished 4 for 6 with 2 homers, 5 rbi and 3 double plays in 5 innnings of work.  lee nespor does what lee nespor does, hitting a three run homer in the bottom of the first.
for xdeathx, jon biddle hit 2 of 7, but tallied a psyche out and 3 double plays of the defensive side of the ball.  billy picciotto was high man on offense, hitting 4 of 9 with a trifecta of rbi.
