Well, week one is over, and the SBL season is off to a roaring start. What can be said about the first week of the long road ahead? Well, there certainly were quite a few surprises. SBL ballers we treated to everything from Brian Frankovich doubling in size like the kid in "Honey I blew Up the Kid" to Ted Bundy at or near the top of the home run list. Yeah, I may have called a few things wrong last week, but hopefully i can get it right the second time around.

Team Donkey Punch-

Though they did let me down in the cool ass uniform department, this team is off to an undefeated start and could very well defeat the ladies and Team Short Bus in week 2. They certainly took a much more unselfish approach to the game last week than I had forseen and really seem to be working well as a team. K-Unit (or whatever he has on his shirt this year) moved in from the homer line when he needed to and complements potential all stars Morocco and Clayton quite well. Oh, and Clayton has mad ups. Predictions for week 2: the DPs win both games handily.

Jukebox Heroes-

Last week I said that this team had the chance to surprise alot of people....I may have been wrong. The mistfit team got their butts handed to them in week 1, albeit from two very good teams. Last week, I also said that the Heroes needed to find a leader to follow to playoff land. Their task wont get any easier next week playing the Double Bluffs and Xsac again, but hopefully the heroes can find someone to turn to for leadership and some offense...Pat Lacky perhaps. Prediction: Jukebox Heroes have a rough week and lose to the Double Bluffs and Xsac.

PJ and His Ladies-

The name certainly does not well reflect the serious male dominated team of 2004. The ladies were just outmatched but both the Double Bluffs and Xsac last week. They will play much better in the weeks to come. If Rando can get going, AE keep trucking, and PJ show up, this team has far better things in store. Predictions: Sadly, Hooiser Daddy and Donkey Punch will both have their way with the ladies in week 2...pulling a Kobe if you will.

The Serbian Jew Double Bluffs-

The Double Bluffs had a rough week. With perenial MVP Nate Tomko in Carolina, the Bluffs had to depend on Olsavsky, McClelland and Goodpastor to carry them through. The Bluffs got off to a feverish start when facing PJ and the Ladies, but seemed to fall back a bit when McClelland sat both himself and Shelly for a couple innings. Things really fell apart in the second game as Hoosier Daddy put on a 12 run inning exhibition that left McClelland and Olsavsky stunned. The challenge for McClelland this week will be balancing a plethora of players with the desire to move the record to 3-1and beating his former VCM teamate. If Goodpastor and Olsavsky are here this week, look for the Bluffs to get back on track. Prediction: The Bluffs destroy the Heroes and edge out Short Bus.

Hoosier Daddy-

Wow is all that I can say about this team in week one. I had my doubts about this team before the season, but it appears that not having a job has done wonders for the young twosome. Brian Frankovich looks to have grown as high as Ted is wide, Mikey has gotten his groove back, and Chickenleg Lacky has been eating his Wheaties. When you add Tark to this mix, they made quick work of a weakened Double Bluff team and the Heroes. Even more tests will be administered to the team this week as they face also undefeated Xsac. This could be a real game. Predictions: If Tark is there, Hooiser Daddy has no problem going 2-0 and remaining undefeated.

Xsac-

Though they did not face much competition in the first week of the season, this team also could be looking at a great start to the year. Jon Biddle was stellar in his shooting in week 1, getting on base instead of going for the homer. This let him demonize the basket and all those under him. Big Whitey made an impressive debut, Kip was stellar, and this rookie "Dank" looks to not remain at the "3" level for too long. They face their first real test of the year when the meet fellow undefeated Hooiser Daddy. Predictions: They have no trouble beating the Jukebox Heroes, but lose a close one to Hoosier Daddy.

The Short Bus All Stars-

This team played much better in the first week than their record suggests. They simply drew the two top teams in the first week. Despite this, the All Stars played well, with Billy and Teddy Ballgame leading the way. They will need a little help from Chris Mcklockalockin and Home Run Lee Nespor, but should compete next week. Predictions: It's a shame that they have to play Donkey Punch again...and the Double Bluffs will also prove the better.
