THE 2006 SHENANGAHELA BASEKETBALL LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE YEAR FINALISTS

BRYAN FRANKOVICH, THE FRANKENBITCHES
frankovich, who has seemingly been cursed over his baseketball career as a player destined to never win anything, may well put that to rest this season as the four-year veteran has put up his most phenomenal campaign to date.  on a team where just about everyone underachieved- greg lackey and dennis lackey played well below their 2005 level, and jon olsavsky all but bailed on frankovich down the stretch- bryan still managed to captain his ship to 9 wins and the sbl's 4th playoff seed.  on the way, b.frank set personal bests in runs batted in and assists, and became only the second player ever to tip in 100 double plays in a season. the world's 2006 all-star captain, bryan has more heart and talent than any other young player in the game.  final 2006 stats:  23 gp, 22 hr, .564 avg., 120 rbi, 8 asts, 113 dp, 7 dumb things.

TERRY SHERNISKY, TEAM WET DREAM
second year stud shernisky looks to follow up his rookie of the year campaign of 2005 with a new piece of hardware this season.  without playing at the intensity level of the other two finalists, shernisky still managed to place in the top five of every statistical category.  without a doubt one of the best pure shooters in the league, shernisky's smooth stroke led him to 24 homers, a .625 average, and 113 rbi with a pair of assists and 52 double plays in 17 games played.  while not the captain of his squad, nobody doubted shernisky was the best player on the league's best team, driving his team to a 15-5 record including a combined 6-1 record head to head with the other two finalists.

NATE TOMKO, LIVE SEX CELEBRATION
the most decorated player in the history of the league, tomko is looking for his fourth player of the year trophy this year.  with the rest of the league breathing down his neck, tomko responded with another fantastic year, breaking the season records for homers and double plays.  in addition, tomko led the sbl in every category except psyche-outs (finishing second) while finishing the season without a single dumb thing in 225 at-bats.  as captain of the league's second best squad, nate was without a doubt the leader of his team and without a doubt the reason they stayed out of the cellar and at the top of the standings.  nate's final line: 22 gp, 64 hr, .640 avg., 140 rbi, 9 ast, 125 dp, 5 psyche outs.  with frankovich and shernisky (and the rest of the league, for that matter) improving, this could be tomko's only chance to get #4.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR FINALISTS: "THE MARK TARK TROPHY"

RAY CATALINE, CASHDOLLAR & ASSOCIATES
this one is a no brainer.  the only rookie to even play in enough games to win this award was by far the most talented.

it's a shame pj rayner didn't show up a few more times to make this one interesting.

FINALISTS FOR THE CHICKEN LEG TROPHY FOR THE SBL'S MOST IMPROVED PLAYER
please keep in mind while comparing 2005 stats to 2006 that the sbl's offensive  averages dropped the following per player this season:  6 hr, .78 average points, 23 rbi, 1 assist.  hey, we didn't play at horsecock downs, what can i say?

JAMIE MOROCO, LIVE SEX CELEBRATION
improved almost a full 100 points in batting average to set the table for nate tomko, plus had to deal with the intense pressure of playing under for a win-at-all-costs captain.  and recorded an assist!
2005:  24 gp, 3 hr, .414 avg., 64 rbi, 0 ast, 4 dp, 0 psyche, 6 dumb things
2006:  20 gp, 1 hr, .512 avg., 44 rbi, 1 ast, 4 dp, 0 psyche, 4 dumb things

LEE NESPOR, TEAM WET DREAM
rbi total skyrocketed this year, as did homer total.  could this be an all-star season for the middle nespor?  no matter how good sherry, katie and aryn are, they wouldn't be 15-5 if lee hadn't improved this much.  this guy mastered the back-breaking homer.
2005:  18 gp, 21 hr, .252 avg, 47 rbi, 0 ast, 3 dp, 2 psyche, 5 dumb things
2006:  24 gp, 29 hr, .247 avg, 67 rbi, 0 ast, 2 dp, 4 psyche, 11 dumb things

KIP CORBETT, LIVE SEX CELEBRATION
while the rest of the league slipped, corbett improved in 2006.  in addition, kip improved steadily over the course of the season, playing at all-star level over the final 3 weeks.
2005: 13 gp, 2 hr, .371 avg., 32 rbi, 0 ast, 24 dp, 0 psyche, 1 dumb thing
2006: 24 gp, 6 hr, .372 avg., 49 rbi, 0 ast, 14 dp, 1 psyche, 2 dumb things

MIKE MOROCO, CASHDOLLAR & ASSOCIATES
slant-eyed one's average dipped, but that was probably from the barrage of homers he reigned (+20 is crazy sick).  and what about that d.p. total?
2005:  17 gp, 9 hr, .596 avg., 76 rbi, 6 ast, 43 dp, 2 psyche, 6 dumb things
2006:  21 gp, 29 hr, .439 avg., 95 rbi, 1 ast, 54 dp, 4 psyche, 11 dumb things

ARYN CHRISTMAN, TEAM WET DREAM
and we thought katie would be the one making player of the year noise in shelly's absence!  aryn, though playing in 6 less games, outplayed her previous self in every category, including hotness.
2005:  19 gp, 2 hr, .584 avg., 56 rbi, 0 ast, 8 dp, 0 psyche, 3 dumb things
2006:  13 gp, 2 hr, ..639 avg., 61 rbi, 1 ast, 15 dp, 0 psyche, 7 dumb things
