4TH SEED) RETURN OF THE WEENISES
VERSUS
3RD SEED) THE FUPALOOTERS

THE FUPALOOTERS               11
RETURN OF THE WEENISES  8

as they had one game earlier in an opening-round win over analisa goodthing, the weenises were unable to get any production out of the top of their lineup.  this time, though, they faced a more powerful opponent and were unable to pull out the win.
the fupalooters, who had earned the #3 seed in the playoff tournament, had been relaxing all afternoon while their opponents had the joy of exhausting themselves in a nailbiter of a three-game opening round.  and it showed, as fupa's big tandem of jon biddle and dennis lackey was able to overcome a vacant leadoff slot to grab the victory.
for once, the weenises found themselves in an early hole after giving up three to fupa in the top of the first.  in fact, aside from a second inning assist from pat lackey (that led to no runs), the weenises were void of any offenseive fireworks at all until lackey's single drove in shernisky in the 5th.
on the other side, the fupalooters had built a 4-0 lead by the time the weenises broke the seal, one they had little trouble holding on to thanks to a potent defense and an weak weenis offense.  though the teams traded runs the rest of the way, it was obvious that both squads were pretty sure of the outcome early on.  even a 4-run rally for the weenises in the bottom of the ninth, highlighted by a shernisky homer,  seemed unexciting and irrelevent to the outcome of the game.
for the winners, dennis lackey connected for 8 hits in 13 tries with 7 rb,i a psyche out and a double play.  biddle set the table for lackey with an 8 for 13 showing and put back 3 double plays defensively.
the weenises got 6 hits and 4 rbi from pat lackey in a losing effort.  shernisky tipped in 5 d.p.'s.

RETURN OF THE WEENISES  8
THE FUPALOOTERS               26  (6 INNINGS)
the losses of terry shernisky (graduation party) and pat lackey (vacation) were ultimately too much for the weenises to overcome, and for the third time in their three-year history, this proud franchise will once again fall short of winning the big one.
the loofahtooters were able to pull off the sweep thanks in large part to the strong play of brandon mckendry, who turned in a 10 for 14, 7 homer, 15 rbi, 3 double play performance.  addam strainbrook, fresh off the plane from germany and playing for the first time all season, added a 9 for 14 effort which included 8 rbi and an assist.
after a scrum in which brandon mckednry overwhelmed billy weisberg (who was on loan to the weenises from longtime rivals pj & the ladies), the looters found themselves in a 2-0 hole after jamie moroco and danielle hennon collected first-inning rbi.  fupa wasted no time taking the lead for good, scoring 7 in the first capped by a mckendry 2-run jack to build a five-run cushion.
the weenises drew close in the second, plating 3 more on a weisberg triple.  once again, however, fupa would respond, getting three more of their own as mckendry would hoist up homer #2 on the game.
finally, in the top of the third, the fupa defense kept team ween off the board, and this time the O took advantage in a big way.  mckendry would hit all three homers in the bottom of the inning as fupa would cross the plate 13 times to build a 23-5 lead that would send the weenises reeling from the playoffs.  a few short innings and a handful of runs later, it would be all over.
fupa captain jon biddle added a 10 for 14 outing for the victors, while weisberg would turn in a 4 of 8, 4 rbi performance for the losing weenises.

GAME OF THE SERIES:  certainly not the blowout
PLAYER OF THE SERIES:   brandon mckendry:  though he only played one game, this is obviously a totally different team with him in the lineup
