HOT FUZZ               5
JUKEBOX HERO  12
playing without starters mike moroco and gavin st. john and facing a hand-picked, unusually powerful jukebox hero lineup, hot fuzz dropped their second game of the season to fall to 9-2.
the jukebox starting lineup featured ray cataline, nate tomko, billy weisberg and matt mcclelland, with reserves jon olsavsky and lenny h. christ also seeing action.
the game got off to a good start early for the heroes when tomko nailed a three run homer in the bottom of the second to  help stretch the lead to 4-0.  after fuzz got on the board in the top of the third to cut the defecit to three, jukebox smallballed their way to another four runs to take a commanding 8-1 lead.    then, after loading the bases in the bottom of the very next inning, weisberg tossed an alley-oop to tomko, who was hacked by mike frankovich while attempting the assist, giving the ladies star a grand slam and the heroes all the runs they would need in this one.
weisberg finished with an 8 for 10, 7 rbi outing.  tomko hit 6 of nine with 2 double plays and an assist.
bryan frankovich paced the losers with a 4 for 10, 3 rbi day with an assist and a pair of double plays.

NAPPY HEADED HOS  15
TEAM DOUBLE STUF  10
aftfer suffering a pair of setbacks in week five, the nappy headed hos got back to their winning ways to kick off week six, taking out a game double stuff squad thanks to the consistent table setting of matt mcclelland and some timley hitting from ray cataline and ben smith.
mac finished with a game high 11 hits in 15 attempts with 7 ribbies, an assist and three double plays.  "sweetwater" cataline drove in five while collecting seven hits, while smith plated three.
after jumping out to an early 7-2 lead after the third frame, the hos were able to weather a late run by double stuff, who collected 7 runs over the final three innings thanks in large part to a couple of 2-run jacks from aryn christman and bob spohn.
christman led the way for double stuff with an 8 for 13 game.  jamie fabian drove in 4 runs and tipped in a trifecta of double plays.

JUKEBOX HERO               6
SCREAMIN' SEAGULLS  9
the seagulls continued to close the gap on pj & the ladies for third place in the american conference, this time handling a rookie-laden jukebox squad who, in spite of the final score, was never really in this one.
the seagulls got their first three baserunners of the game on board and finished the first inning with a 3-0 lead.  from there, they were able to answer every time the heroes plated a run, allowing them to dispose of the yellow mesh for the second time in 2007.
jon olsavsky led the way for the balanced seagull attack with a five for nine, 3 rbi outing.  terry hall, lee nespor and lenny crist each hit dafely 4 times, with the former driving in four runs.  olsavsky and hall evenly divided 4 double plays.
the jukebox lineup featured rookies bob spohn, lou shernisky, kenny robison and val taylor, while veterans ben smith, john offutt and jeremy battyani saw limited action.  offutt and smith each collected a trio of hits, while robison tipped in three double plays in a losing effort.

KATHLEEN TURNER OVERDRIVE  28
PJ & THE LADIES                                3  (5 innings)
the ladies came out flat, kto came out red hot, and the game ended just as most ladies games that meet those requirements do:  early by referee stoppage with shoes being flung left and right and half the ladies in the sin bin.
for the first time all season, a lady found his or her way into the penaly box, and not suprisingly it was captain and frequent penalee rando knight, who was tossed in the top of the fifth with his team in a 20-3 hole.  from the penalty box, knight tossed his footwear until the lead had grown to 28-3, then teammate billy weisberg's water bottle toss at louis shernisky forced the game to be stopped before any more red chaos ensued.
kathleen turner overdrive had one of the better scoring games of all time going in this one, and might have set a record had the ladies antics not prevented the game from reaching the sixth.  after dropping the scrum, kto went bananas to the tune of 12 runs in the top of the first, including a pair of two-run homers from terry shernisky.  from there the lime green muscle shirts refused to let up, and when terry sherry's grand slam swished through to give us the lopsided final, it put the exclamation point of one hell of a team effort.
  t. shernisky led his squad with an unreal 11 for 12, 4 homer, 15 rbi, 2 double play game.  rookie louis shernisky hit on 10 of 14, with 6 ribbies, and even the lately-off kip corbett put through 9 of 13 with seven rbi.
weisberg hit on 3 of his 4 shots and drove in 2, but the ladies combined for only 4 hits as a team.

HOT FUZZ                                            14
KATHLEEN TURNER OVERDRIVE  15
terry shernisky's one-out  single in the bottom of the ninth plated kip corbett and won the game for the overdrive, who have now climbed even with hot fuzz atop the sbl at 9-3.  it marks the fourth win in a row for kto, while hot fuzz has now dropped 3 of 4.
again understaffed, hot fuzz gave it everything they had in this one.  they sprinted to a 3-0 lead after the first, only to fall behind 12-4 by the end of the fifth.  bryan frankovich, who is normally the most consistent threat in the hot fuzz lineup, went un uncharacteristic 5 for 14 from the field, and it showed as they were unable to climb out of the hole for much of the game.
then, in the ninth, frankovich's bat finally came to life, as his three-run homer and bases clearing three-bagger helped fuzz to 7 runs and a 14-12 lead, their first lead since the first inning.
kathleen turner though, hot off one of the most dominating performances in sbl history, were not to be denied.  they calmly went to work getting the three runs they needed, and did so without missing a single shot.
terry shernisky once again paced the victors, hitting 9 of 14 shots with a pair of homers and 8 rbi, as well as five double plays.  kip corbett added six hits and three ribbies.
pat nespor led the losers with a 10 for 14 day with a quartet of rbi. bryan frankovich tipped in 4 double plays.

SCREAMIN' SEAGULLS   5
SPARKLING WIGGLES   13
without pat lackey and captain danielle hennon, the sparkling wiggles had no trouble winning their fourth straight game to improve to 6-5 on the year and a perfect 6-0 against their fellow american conference teams.
after initially falling behind 2-0 after the second inning, the wiggles got on the board in the third when nate tomko cleared the loaded bases with his fifth grand slam of the year.  from there it was all wiggles, as they would score at least a pair until the eighth inning, when the contest was all but wrapped up.
tomko led the wiggles with 9 for 13 marksmanship with three homers, 10 rbi, 4 double plays, and a third inning assist of a jeremey battyani miss.  from the leadoff slot, katie kelly hit on 8 of 13 shots.
jon olsavsky went 6 of 9 with three runs batted in for the seagulls.  terry hall tipped in a game-high 5 double plays.
the seagulls fell to 4-8 on the year.
NAPPY HEADED HOS  11
PJ & THE LADIES         10
though they fought valiantly, the ladies were unable to overcome poor shooting from their normally reliable captain and the abscence of their best offensive player and have now dropped three in a row after putting an end to hot fuzz's winning streak last week.
the ladies actually held the early lead in this one, as they went up 5-0 after the second inning while the hos struggled to find their offense.  when they finally did, the roles reversed in a major way.  the hos would score 8 unanswered runs over the middle innings, while the ladies failed to even tally a hit in the third, fourth or fifth frames.
in the sixth, the ladies once again found their rythym, and rando knight made one of his two hits count with a bases clearing triple to help his squad regain the lead, albeit briefly, at 10-8.  unfortunately, the ladies would get only one more hit the rest of the way, and the same could not be said about the nappy headed hos, who had no trouble getting three more in the eighth on the strength of a ben smith 2-run jack.  then, a mcclelland double play of valerie taylor to lead off the ninth all but sealed the fate of the ladies.
weisberg led the ladies with a 5 for 10 outing with 4 rbi.  john offutt hit safely on 6 of 10 shots.
in a winning effort, matt mcclelland hit on half of his 12 shots with 3 rbi and 4 double plays.  smith finished with 6 ribbies.
the ladies dropped to 4-8 with the loss, while the nappy headed hos now sit at 7-5 on the season.

TEAM DOUBLE STUFF  15
SPARKLING WIGGLES  16
nate tomko's 2-out, 2-run homer in the bottom of the ninth erased double stuff's narrow lead and pushed the wiggles to their fifth consecutive win in one of the more highly anticipated game of the week, at least as far as jamie fabian was concerned.
tomko was too mush for double stuff to handle down low, as the black and pink really could have used their "big man in the middle" jon biddle in this one.  the reigning player of the year tipped in three assists and 7 double plays to break the backs of artn christman's troops, who actually led throughout most of the contest.
after falling into an early 7-0 hole as double stuff came out red-hot, the wiggles weathered the storm until their offense finally got going with three runs in the third.  then, still staring at an 8-3 defecit, tomko tossed a grand slam to himself and converted from the middle homer line to cut the double stuff lead to one and make a game of it.
from there, the two offenses battled back and fourth in one of the better games of the season until tomko's longball brought the week six festivities to a close in style.
all three members of double stuff- christman, fabian and rookie bob spohn -hit on half of their 14 shots.  fabian plated 6 runs with a pair of homeruns and 3 double plays as well as a psyche-out, while christman and spohn drove in 5 and 4, respectively.
katie kelly had a game-high 9 hits in 13 attempts with 7 rbi in a winning effort.  tomko added 2 homers, 8 rbi and a psyche-out.
the win puts the wiggles firmly atop of sbl's american conference at 7-5.  with the loss, double stuff falls to 5-7.  the teams split their season series 1-1.
