SBL 2002, WEEK 3 JUNE 9 AUSCHWITZ GARDENS GAYLEM FAGISMS 3 NASTY PILLOW 2 an offensive onslaught kicked off week 3 of the 2002 sbl season as the 2-2 fagisms collided with the 2-2 nasty pillow in a game in which the teams combined for an astounding 5 whole runs. wow. the fagisms scored in the top of the ninth to break the 2-all tie, then put down pillow 1-2-3 in the bottom half of the inning to mercifully prevent the game from going into extra innings and make us spectators watch another minute of total nonsense. for the winners, who if i may add only scored three freakin' runs, jeff meyers brouht in 2 new players a few seconds prior to scrum to allow the game to happen, then hit 5 of his ten shots and turned 2 dp's in the field. other than that, nothing even moderately good came out of the game. WEENISES 4 RATCHET THUNDER STUDS 14 once again, the weenises were able to hang with the lague-leading thunder studs for the first few innings, and once again the score was out of hand by the time the game ended. mark tarkanick made more than a few pairs of shorts wet in his sbl debut, nailing a psyche-out of his own, notching half a psyche-out with mikey moroco, then hooking up again with moroco and nate tomko for his final third of a p/o to make his total 1.8 in less than 9 full innings of work thus far. also for the winners, sam lynn nailed 7 of ten shots and drove in 3 while mikey moroco hit 2 homers and knocked in 4. nate tomko turned 2 dp's in two innings and tallied 1.3 psyche-outs. for the winless weenises, elysa farrell hit 5 of 11 shots and turned 2 double plays. PJ & THE LADIES 13 TEAM CRACKALAKALAKAN 0 team crackalakalakan continued to have trouble with their conference rivals, once again failing to score a run and falling by a very lopsided score. for pj and the ladies, who exploded for 6 runs in both the 5th and 7th innings, steve mentrek drove in 8 runs on 6 of 13 shooting with a couple of homers, a dp and an assist. big rando knight added 4 rbi and a pair of double plays, while cassie pyle watched half of her two shots fall thru for a respectable .500 batting average. crackalakalakan was led by josh flynn, who had a hit. and was the only one. PINK BANDANA GIRLS 8 GAYLEM FAGISMS 9 (13 INNINGS) mohawk esenwein, in only his second sbl game, hit a 2 out homer in the bottom of the 13th inning to seal the win for his gaylem fagisms. esenwein nearly won the game for his team without even making the homer, as his first one rimmed out, but fred shaffer of the p.b.g. was whistled for an encroachment foul. however, in the intrest of sportsmanship, fagisms captain gary swogger allowed for the shot to be retaken, and esenwein, unshaken by the events, swished thru his second homer of the game to halt the bandana girls winning streak at 2. esenwein was big all-around, hitting a homer in the bottom of the 11th to keep the game going, and tipping in a jeff meyers triple in the bottom of the eight the force extra innings. jeff meyers hit his first-ever sbl grand slam in the 8th, answering bandana girl jason biddle's 7th inning salami. meyers also tipped in 4 double plays, and psyched out two. for the bandana girls, fred shaffer tipped in 4 dp's, while both jason biddle and sean hood hit a pair of homers. NASTY PILLOW 7 PINK BANDANA GIRLS 5 nasty pillow went ice cold down the stretch, failing to score a run in any of their final 5 at-bats, but the pink bandana girls, obviously still reeling from their 13 inning defeat only minutes earlier, were unable to capitalize. tim meyers led the way for pillow, hitting a homer, driving in 4 runs, and tipping in 4 double plays. jon olsavsky hit 5 of 9 shots and turned a handful of double plays to help meyers out. for the bandana girls, who fell to 3-3, billy weisberg hit 4 of his 8 shots and tipped in 2 dp's. fred shaffer drove in 2, one on a solo homer in the 8th. nasty pillow raised their record to 3-3, and currently hold the 4th playoff spot over the p.b.g. TEAM CRACKALAKALAKAN 9 RATCHET THUNDER STUDS 10 team crackalakalakan came within 3 outs of pulling off the biggest upset in shenangahela baseketball history, thanks in large part to ryan martell's sbl record-tying 5 homers. martell drove in all nine of his team's runs while tipping in a tomko miss for crack's only double play of the game. for the thunder studs, who barely upped their season mark to 6-0, nate tomko hit a 2 out triple in the bottom of the eight to pull his team ahead, then tipped in a bid double play in the visitor half of the ninth to all but secure the win. tomko finished with 6 double plays and 2 assists while hitting a homer and knocking down seven of his ten attempts. mike eicker added a pair of double plays and four rbi's, while mikey moroco hit a solo shot in the 4th. josh flynn hit 5 of 11 shots for the losers, who had nothing to be ashamed of following their one-run loss to the premiere team in the league. PJ & THE LADIES 15 THE WEENISES 0 (6 INNINGS) pj and the ladies, usually a pathetic mess at the garden, once again looked like a contender, this time annihilating the winless weenises by 15 in a 6 inning mauling. the ladies were led once again by their sex machine, who turned in a 6 of 9 performance including 2 homers and 2 rbi's. big rando knight hit a fifth inning grand slam on his way to driving home 6 runs, while both members of the package hit 4 of their nine shots. for the first time in sbl history, all 4 members of a team chipped in a double play as every lady finished with one. for the weenises, jamie moroco had her teams only two hits. pj and the ladies allowed only 3 hits combined in their 2 wins today. the weenises are now 0-6 heading in to their game against the 0-6 crackalakalakans to determine once and for all who the worst team in the sbl is. player of the week: steve mentrek, mohawk esenwein, and ryan martell share the honors team of the week: pj & the ladies, 2 shutouts, allowed only 3 total hits home |
