| Week 8 games played july 8, 2001 No Talent Ass Clowns - 13 Purple Undependables - 9 the undependables once again put forth a tremendous effort against the league-leading ass clowns, but once again came up a bit short ass the ass clowns drove in four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to break the nine-all tie, then held on for the victory. leading the way for the ass clowns was nate tomko, who homered 5 times (a new sbl record) and drove in 10 (tying the record) runs on 9 of 15 shooting. in the field, tomko turned two double plays, one of them to put down a ninth inning rally. alberta hood drove in 2 for the winners. for the undependables, jeff meyers and hammy evenly divided 8 runs batted in while going 9 of 14 and 8 of 14, respectively. Purple Undependables -13 Bocce Heroes - 2 ian laskowitz made is much-anticipated SBL debut for the bocce heroes, but the spark he provided was not enough to overcome the offensive display hammy put on to lead his team to a decisive divisional win. wareham went 4 of 9 from the field, but three of those four were home runs. as if that's not enough, two of the home runs were grand slams, enabling hammy to chalk up the unbelievable total of 11 rbi's, shattering the sbl record set only a game prior. in the field, hammy tipped in two dp's, while jeff meyers added a pair. meyers also hit a solo shot for the winners. for the heroes, laskowitz went three of six with a homer. Bocce Heroes - 8 NAACP- 1 the bocce heroes rebounded from there loss to the undependables to torch the naacp by 7 and improve their record to 4-6. chris hvizdak led the charge for his team, going 6 of 12 from the field while driving in3 runs. also for the heroes, ian laskowitz drove in 4, one on a ninth inning solo homer. in the field, laskowitz tipped in 4 while billy weisberg added a pair of dp's. for the ice-cold naacp, jon olsavsky drove in the only run. the heroes kept pace with pj and the ladies for the third playoff spot and took a game and a half advantage over the undependables for the final seed and avoidance of all cooking duties for the all-star game.. Ass Clowns - 9 NAACP - 1 the ass clowns imroved to 10-1 on the year and 2-1 in their division on the strength of a 9-5 edging of the naacp (5-6). the clowns exploded for 6 runs in the 6th to snatch the lead and never looked back. all three ass clowns chipped in evenly as joel lepak went 6 of 13 with 3 rbi's, josh robbs totaled 2 rbi's on 5 of 13 shooting, and alberta hood drove in 4 on 4 of 12 marksmanship. for the naacp, jamie moroco drove in three runs on 6 of 13 shooting and jon olsavsky hit 5 of 14 shots for 2 runs batted in. the naacp failed to clinch a playoff spot for the third straight game. the win ensured the ass clowns of the #1 seed in the playoffs and home-court advantage. Purple Undependables - 10 PJ & The Ladies - 3 the undependables(3-8) continued their furious late-season run for the playoffs by continuing their impressive play and taking their second straight game. hammy stayed red-hot for the undependables with a 6-of-12 plate performance which included 1 homer, 1 grand slam (his third of the evening) and 6 rbi's. jeff meyers solid play continued as he tipped in 5 dp's while going 7 of 13 with a homer and four runs batted in. for pj and his overmatched ladies, all three players drove in one run, with lenny crist hitting a last-inning solo shot. pj & the ladies three-game winning streak was halted with the undependable victory. No Talent Ass Clowns - 13 (8 innings) PJ & The Ladies - 1 the ass clowns won their 6th straight on the strength of nate tomko's 4 homerun, 9 rbi , 4 double play performance. also lending a hand for the ass clowns (11-1) were joel lepak, 4 for 13, 1 hr, 2 rbi's, 1 dp; and josh robbs, 4 of 12, 2 rbi's, 1 dp. for pj and the ladies, rando knight hit a solo homer in the bottom of the first, but that was all they could muster in the 8-inning blowout. pj and the ladies(4-6) dropped their second in a row and fell into a tie with the bocce heroes for the all-important third playoff spot and a bracket opposite the streaking ass clowns until the championship finals. team of the week - no talent ass clowns player of the week - hammy Home |
