sbl 2002: week 9 the tubbietronic superdrom july 21 pink bandana girls 7 nasty pillow 0 in a game nasty pillow desperatley needed to win to keep pace with the rest of the pack in the playoff hunt, captain jon olsavsky had his worst baseketball game ever, and the rest of pillow followed suit. olsavsky's 0 for 9 performance not only put a dagger into the heart of his team's playoff hopes, but may have also cut out any chances he had at his first mvp award. the loss knocked pillow to 2.5 games behind the fags and pj&l with 3 games remaining. for the victors, jared clayton led his team's offense with 3 homers and 5 rbi's, while fred shaffer hit 5 of 9 shots and drove in 2. defensively, clayton and big ted gilliland combined for 4 double plays. pj & the ladies 13 nasty pillow 2 looking to rebound from their horrific defeat at the hands of the pbg only minutes prior, pillow took the court against division rivals pj & the ladies and looked to make up some badly needed gound. unfortunately or nasty pillow, the sure-shooting pj and the ladies, sparked by a 5th inning lepak grand slam, never gave them an oppurtunity to redeem themselves and (apparantly) snuffed out their playoff hoped for good. pj nespor hit 5 of 9 attempts and drove in a run while turning 4 double plays in the field. also for the winners, lady mentrek hit 4 solo shots and drove home 5 while big rando knight had a par each of dp's and rbi. for nasty pillow, jon olsavsky went 2 of 9 with a pair of jacks and knockled in 5 double plays. ratchet thunder studs 21 gaylem fagisms 11 the grossly understaffed gaylem fagisms more than held their own against the juggenaut thunder studs for 9 innings, but without starters jeff meyers and phil jones, eventually bowed to the league leaders. shelly goodpastor's return sparked the winners, as she went 9 of 13 from the fiel with 6 runs batted in. nate tomko hit 10 of his 13 shots with 11 runs batted in, 3 homers, 5 double plays and an assist. mark titanic drove in 5 on 8 of 13 shooting while tipping in 3 assists. sam lynn hit on half of her 12 attempts. for the fags, andy esenwein led the way with 4 homers on 8 of 12 shooting. esenwein also drove home 8 runs and tipped in 3 double plays. lee nespor contributed a pair of homers and a handful of double plays. weenises 6 team crackalakalakan 2 leading only 3-2 heaing into the top half on the 7th, the weenises scored 2 each in the 7th and 8th to pull ahead for good and send crackalakalakan to their 17 straight defeat. billy weisberg hit half of his 10 shots whiled driving in one and turning 3 double plays. kip corbett added 4 base hits and a pair of rbi's for the winners. for crackalakalakan, tim mclaughlin hit 3 of 10 attempts and tallied both of his team's rbi's. the weenises improved to 3-0 on the year againts their rivals. pj & the ladies 10 gaylem fagisms 12 pj nespor's 8th inning penalty spelled doom for his ladies, as his sin bin his antics led to captain joel lepak being assesed a penalty as well. without the package to guide them, big rando and katie burger looked aweful in giving up 3 runs in the final 2 innings to blow the game to the heavy underdog fags. the ladies sprinted to a 10-4 lead after 4 innings, but watched as andy esenwein led the comeback. esenwein's grand salami highlighted a 5 run 5th for the fags, then a pair of solo jobs in the 7th gave his team the lead. lee nespor's 8th inning solo shot put his team up by 2 and capped the scoring. esenwein finished with 10 rbi's on 7 of 11 shooting. esenwein also tallied 6 long balls, a new record. for the ladies, katie burger led the charge with .700 shooting on ten shots. joel leptak thrilled the crowd with an assits and 3 of 11 shooting, while big rando knight hit a 2 run dong in the second. knight, leptak and nespor all had a dp. the fags raised their seaosn mark to 11-7 and inched ahead of the ladies on tiebreaker points. ratchet thunder studs 21 weenises 20 in the one of the highest scoring game in league history, the studs were able to pull out a one-run win thanks in part to a ten-run ninth. the studs, known for their ability to score in bunches, brought home 7 in the 4th, three in the fifth, and the big ten in the last to outslug the weenises, who scored in every inning, including 4 in the home half of the ninth to give the studs a scare. nate tomko once again fueled his squad, hitting on 11 of 16 attempts for 12 runs batted in and 4 homers. tomko also contributed an assist, a psyche-out, and 6 double plays. mark tarkanick hit a pair of homers and drove in 6 while shelly goodpastor hit 10 of 13 shots, including a last-inning solo shot, to drive in three. for the weenises, billy weisberg hit 8 of 12 attempts for 5 rbi's while turining 4 dp's. jamie moroco finsihed with an 8 of 11, one assist, 5 rbi game. the weenises fell to 5-13 while the studs climbed to 16-2. pink bandana girls 18 team crackalakalakan 1 (8 innings) fred shaffer's 7 of 9 shooting performance sparked his team's 17-run rout of the lowely crackalakalakan. the pbg exploded for 4 runs in the first, then never looked back before putting away crack with a 7 run 7th. shaffer finsihed the night with 5 rbi's, 2 dp's, and 3 homers as well. inside out boy clayton hit 4 long balls on his way to driving in 8, and tipped in a shaffer miss for his first assist of the season. jason biddle hit 4 of 10 shots, while sean hood hit 3 of 9, and drove in 3 including a 4th-inning solo homer. crackalakalakan was led by josh flynn's 3 of 8 evening. flynn and mclaughlin split 6 double plays. crack lost their 18 in a row to remain winless with 2 games left, while hood's pbg took ahold of the #2 seed by virtue of thier 12-6 record. game of the week: ratchet thunder studs vs. weenises team
