THE FUPALOOTERS                16
RETURN OF THE WEENISES  10
the tubabloopers were the beneficiaries of the mr. hyde side of the weenises, as the yellow and gold  failed to score a run in the first 5 innings of the contests after putting up 33 and 25 in their two previous games.
fupa held a one-run lead heading into the top of the fourth and had already recorded 3 double plays and a couple of psyche outs to stymie the ween offense before finally putting some distance on their rivals.  six straight hits, including one assisted by jon biddle, plated 5 runs to build the lead to 6.  then in the fifth, following a terry shernisky double play to begin the inning on the wrong foot, fupa rattled off 5 more hits culminating with a jeremy battyani homer to score five more and expand the cushion to 11-0.
when the weenises finally did get on the board, they did it in bunches, with 4 in the sixth and 6 in the seventh to pull within one.  however, it was all fupa over the final 2 innings as they would get 4 more to put the game away.
biddle finished with 7 double plays and 6 of 13 shooting with 6 runs batted in and a pair of assists.  dennis lackey burnt his former team with an 8 for 14 game, while jeremy battyani continued to wow with a team high 7 ribbies.
for team ween, pat lackey and danielle hennon finished with 5 for 9 lines, while shernisky drove in 4 and tipped in 6 double plays.

UNCLE JED'S POCKET WATCH   7
ANALISA GOODTHING                  6
uncle jed continued to just get the job done, winning their fifth in a row despite putting up one of their most miserable offensive performances ever.
in spite of losing jon olsavsky to the lethal lottery, analisa fielded one of their most formidable teams in weeks.  both elysa farrell and billy picciotto were present to compliment captain ben elliott, as well as newest analisite dank elly.  shelley goodpastor's uncle jed, meanwhile, got the return of lee "instant offense" nespor to their lineup, and benefitted from the addition of former tot jeff knight.  and terry hall was there, too.  until he had to go to frisbee.
anyway, the game itself sucked, which explains why i'm spending so much time talking about who played in it.  analisa scored one here, blah, jed scored one there, blargh.  yada-yada-yada, and the damn thing was over.
shelley carries her team once again, going 7 for 9 with 3 runs batted in.  on the offensive side j. knight did dick, but he did tip in 3 double plays.
for analisa, farrell finished with 6 hits in 9 a.b.'s with 3 ribbies.  big whitey added 5 double plays.

JUKEBOX HERO                18
TEAM KOOPA TROOPA  14
koopa headed into their game with jukebox hero atop the league.  unfortunately for them, that's a place sbl president nate tomko felt his team should be, and he decided to do something about it.
when it came time to pass out the jukebox jerseys, which normally went to the patrick nespors and katie burgers of the sbl, tomko sought out single-season double play leader jon biddle, rookie of the year frontrunner terry shernisky, leadoff hitter extraordinaire shelley goodpastor, reigning all-star mvp mikey moroco, and 5-time all american rando knight to fill the yellow mesh.
koopa was actually able to hang with the star-studded jukebox lineup for most of the contest, thanks in large part to sub-par games from goodpastor and biddle.  even when jukebox began to pull away in the middle innings, koopa hung tough, actually closing the gap from 14-6 to 14-13 by the eighth.
cream, however, rises to the top, and jbh ultimately prevailed for their first win in 3 weeks and only third win on the season.
shernisky paced the victors, hitting safely 7 times in 9 at bats with 5 ribbies.  rando knight busted from a mini-slump with a 6 for 9 outing with 4 rbi and 3 double plays.  both goodpastor and moroco collected 5 hits in 10 at-bats, with the former driving in 4.
for koopa, frankovich went 6 of 12 with 7 rbi and 5 double plays.  matt mcclelland added 8 hits.

TRAIN ON TERRY SHERNISKY  13
RETURN OF THE WEENISES       19
the weenises rebounded nicely from their loss to the fupalooters, cooling off a high octane tots squad to keep pace with the ladies in the american race.
terry shernisky kept with the furious pace he set as a member of jukebox hero one game earlier, hitting safely 7 times in 12 at-bats with 2 homers, an assist, 6 double plays and a psyche out. (though its likely many more of aryn christman's misses could be credited to shernisky)
t-money wasn't a one-man show, however, as pat lackey made himself at home in yellow once again, banging out 6 hits and 8 rbi to compliment his new superstar teammate.  the highlight of the game was definately lackey's 2-out grand slam in the seventh that all but sealed the deal for ween.
following a 2-0 hole after one, the tots never really got in their game.  they tallied 2 in the second,, only to give up 3 in the bottom of the frame.  a scoreless third was answered by a weenis four-spot.  that sad pattern held fourth all game.  at least ben smith wasn't around to see it.
the tots got most of their offense from the katie kelly/mikey moroco tandem.  kelly tallied 6 hits in 10 at bats while moroco hit on 7 of his 10 attempts.  moroco also added a homer, 6 rbi and a pair of double plays.  christman hit safely 5 times in her tot debut.
jamie moroco and danielle hennon added 5 hits apeice for return of the weenises.

ugh, i don't even want to talk about this one.

UNCLE JED'S POCKET WATCH  31
TEAM KOOPA TROOPA                30  (10 INNINGS)
in a game that featured 4 ties and 6 lead changes as well as one extra inning of play, uncle jed's pocket watch outslugged koopa troopa for their 6th consecutive win while koopa fell for the second time in as many games.
both teams overcame defecits a number of times.  it looked as though koopa, who had big innings of 10 in the fourth and 6 in the seventh were in the drivers seat headed into the late innings, but jed rallied right back.
following an 8-run eighth in which goodpastor and lee nespor hit 2-run longballs (nespor's thank to a jeff knight assist), jed got 4 more in the ninth thanks to another goodpastor 2-run jack to gain a 2-run advantage.
koopa got their first runner on board, but jeff knight stymied the rally with a double play.  mcclelland and bryan frankovich handled the pressure well, each stroking a double to knot the game before mike frankovich bricked the game-winning double.
in extra innings, goodpasot continued to dominate, putting in 2 rbi triples to help build her teams lead to 3.  looking for more insurance, jeff knight missed a gimme single with shelley on third, and jed took to the field clinging to their three-run cushion.
koopa'a first two runners reached in the form of greg lackey and matt mcclelland.  bryan frankovich then went for the game-tying homer, but his shot came hard off the rim.  acting fast, frankovich tipped his own miss back in from the triple line, but both referees ruled his back foot down and jed caught a huge break.
still needing a trio of runs to win, koopa looked to mike frankovich from the triple line.  the shot was off its mark, but mcclelland was there for a huge put-back, keeping his team alive.  needing only a single to tie the game once again, greg lackey missed from the right side to bring koopa to it's final out in the form of reigning player of the year matt mcclelland.  unfortunately for koopa, mac's left single also missed the mark and jed escaped hoffa centre with the biggest win of their season.
shelley tallied 18 hits in 22 at-bats with 2 homers and 12 rbi.  jeff knight drove in 14 and collected 14 hits and 5 double plays, while lee nespor plated 10 runners on 3 homeruns.
for koopa, b. frank hit on 10 of 15 attempts with 4 homers and 11 driven in.  mac added 11 hits and 9 rbi.

ANALISA GOODTHING     14
i've written way too many write-ups this season.  we may need to begin eliminating pointless games like this that happen late in the week so i don't put a gun in my mouth.
seriously, i don't even remember this game taking place.  there's a scorebook here with a bunch of numbers and names in it, but i have no recollection of any of these events.  as far as i'm concerned, ben elliott just boned aryn christman for 20 minutes and the rest of the players either smoked pot or talked tough on my girlfriend.
here's what the scorebook has in terms of good players:
for analisa,  elysa farrell turned in a 7 for 11, 3 rbi performance.  billy picciotto drove in 6 and tipped in a team-high 5 double plays.
for the tots, katie kelly and mikey moroco each collected 7 hits in 12 at-bats, with kelly driving in 5.  christman hit safely a team-high 8 times while patrick nespor (hold on, this stat leads me to believe this game really didn't happen) drove in 7 friggin' runs.

JUKEBOX HERO      0
PJ  & THE LADIES  28  (6 INNINGS)
do you know how hard it is to get 7 assists in 5 innings?  even if you re playing against one of the worst defenses ever assembled, it's fucking tough.
pj & the ladies finally stopped their 4-game slide, and in the process took out a months worth of frustration on a punchless jukebox hero team.
we'll save you from the horror story that was the game itself, but i must reiterate that pj & the ladies had 7 team assists, some of which weren't even attempts at the hoop, but rather passes from one communist to another.
when the dust cleared, nate tomko had collected 9 hits in 11 at-bats with 4 homers, 13 rbi, 3 assists, 3 psyche-outs and 3 double plays.  newest lady jon olsavsky contributed with an 8 for 10 game with 6 rbi, one homerun and an assist.  rando knight hit on 7 of his 10 shots with a homer and 4 driven in, but sadly no assist.  no worries, though, as billy weisberg tipped in 3 of them.
for jukebox, terry shernisky had 7 hits,  against koopa troopa!  hahahahaha!
