Ben: FACT, but obviously, i hope it's fact because of me being voted p.o.t.y. sure, nate's only won two, but considering that the award has only been given four times, that's pretty dominant. we won't know until the 14th who was voted player of the year, but if it's not nate, i can't see of any other reason why.
1. Nate Tomko will not win the Player of the Year award simply because nobody wants to see him win another one.
Nate: FICTION, or at least i hope it's fiction. i truthfully don't think people wouldn't vote for me because they don't want me win another p.o.t.y. trophy. they may have other reasons, like assuming everyone else will vote for me, but i've only won 2- it's not like my mantle is overflowing or anything. honestly, given the situation i was in this year, i don't think i could have played any better. my team is in the championship, and i'm happy with how i performed. if that's not enough, then no big deal... i'll try again next season. Bryan: FICTION. why wouldn't the best player in the league win the award for the best player in the league? until someone can step it up and keep up the same or better stats as him, it should remain his award.

2. The winner of the TOTS/Koopa Troopa series will go on to win the championship.
FICTION. i'd say the winner of that series will have an advantage against the fupa/weenises winner, but as a member of the team sitting in the finals awaiting an opponent, i can assure you that whoever makes it is far from a lock to beat the ladies. we're way more experienced, 25 total years between us, and have the advantage of playing for the championship at ass clown outdoor arena, a court where every one of us has performed well over the years. if anyone still left in the playoffs is looking past pj & the ladies, they're in for a real kick in the balls on august 14th. FACT. pj & the ladies have had trouble all season with keeping up with offensive teams. tots and koopa troopa just happen to be the two highest scoring teams in the league. also keep in mind that pj & l will be rusty after not having played for a couple weeks. as for the winner of the fupalooters/weenises series, same thing. the offenses of those two teams will not be able to keep up with those of the tots or koopa troopa in a series. FACT. in my opinon theses are the 2 strongest teams in the tournament that are in contention for reaching the finals. regardless of who wins this series and goes on to beat the weenises/fupalooters, they will give pj&l's one hell of a series.

3. Billy Weisberg deserves to be an all-star.
FICTION. yes, he's my on my team and one of my best friends, but billy weisberg is not an all-star this year. he's played solid, no doubt, but it's not called the all-adequate team. as i see it, aryn christman would have been a better choice, i think she had a superior season. you could also make the argument that katie kelly, and both of billy's other pj&l teammates would have made more sense. to me, it just doesn't make sense to reward someone with an all-star vote if they played well below their abilities. FICTION. i love billy, but it's easy to see that he's not playing to his potential this year. he did turn it around during the second half, however, katie kelly, aryn christman, or pj nespor would make more deserving all-stars in my opinion. FACT. he's a good player, and good players deserve to make all-stars. sure he didn't have the greatest year, but he still got the job done to help his team clinch the regular season title. i really do think that sharon needs him in the lineup.

4. Shelley Goodpastor would be the MVP of the league, assuming that the SBL gave out that award.
FICTION. (i swear, i'll go fact eventually) shelley would be in the running for the most valuable player award without a doubt. her team relies so heavily on her it's sick, and it has to be painful for a player who has had a solid supporting cast for so many years suddenly feel the weight of the world on her shoulders. oh, wait... i know exactly what that feels like. and that's why i have to go fiction on this one; sure, shelley's team would suck without her, but my team wouldn't be good without me, and as a matter of fact the weenises wouldn't win much without terry shernisky and the fupalooters would blow without jon biddle. originally, the sbl did give out a most valuable player award, but because the word "value" is so open to interpretation (value to the team, value to the league, etc.), we simplified things and just renamed the award "player of the year". would shelley collect some votes for m.v.p.? yup. but does she do enough for the league to be considered the most valuable? who knows. FICTION. i was originally going to say fact, but after thinking about it, shelley wouldn't be a lock. she would most certainly be a candidate and would get a lot of votes, but there are a few other players who you could make a case for. the four other p.o.t.y. candidates, frankovich, mcclelland, even mikey moroco have been very vaulable to their teams this year (and yes, i'm going by vaule to the team). it's just too hard to tell, and maybe that's why it's "player of the year" now and not "most valuable player", because it's a lot easier to figure out who the best player is than the most valuable. FICTION. mvp in my opinon would go to someone who helped their team go far in the regular season, do very well in the playoffs (or finals) and help win the championship. so the mvp award in my opinion would still be up for grabs (if there was one).

5. There should be no draft for next season. Meaning, teams will be picked based on who belongs on a team with who (Nate and Shelley, Mikey and Bryan) or just at random.
FICTION. i think a draft is neccesary in terms of giving every team a shot at the best players. if we allowed the sbl to divide itself into teams, the top players (who are usually the most competitive) will flock together and create a double bluffs effect in which all of the talent is limited to one or two rosters. i think everyone can agree that the sbl had more parity this season than any previous, which means we're doing something right in terms of creating teams. i think we need to find a way to allow people who want to play together to end up on the same team while still keeping thechampionship up in the air until seasons end. perhaps if the captains went out of their way to create fair teams out of the players already in the sbl instead of drafting friends who they think will be sweet at baseketball in the second round we could do it. FICTION, although i think things should be done a bit differently next season. either a capitain should be able to sign somebody who played on his or her team the previous season, or you match up two people on a team (of equal abilities and who would want to play together) as co-capitains. it's the best way to make sure teams are even, and people are happy on their teams. also, i think it would be a good idea to not be allowed to draft rookies in the first two rounds, nor be able to sign one pre-draft. FICTION. i really do think that there should be a draft. that way it will mix up things each year. and if nate really wanted shelly, all he would have to do (or she) would be captain and pick him/her up as a pre-draft pick. and as we have been seeing different captains each year, it has been interesting who they pick up in the draft. besides, draft day is pretty fun.

6. The SBL shouldn't add any new players next year.
FACT. (there it is!) it's not that i don't welcome new players. i did it with open arms for 4 years, as long as they were were able to fit in and had a pretty good attitude. but unfortunately, the sbl has reached it's maximum occupancy for the time being. i'd love for everyone who has any interest at all to be able to have fun in the sbl, but the fact is that we just can't take on any more players. first of all, we can't have more than 8 teams; sunday afternoons are only so long. second, with all of the behind the scenes work- stats, game summaries, etc.- that has to be done, there just wouldn't be enough hours in the week for me to get everything accomplished. i could go on for hours on why we have to turn people away, but i think you all get the point. the fact is that until some of the players who have already established themselves move on, there won't be any new additions. FICTION, but we can't just let any random person in the league. i don't know how exactly things are done now as to new people, but i suggest that any new person should be approved by the board (mainly nate...it is his league, after all) before being allowed in. i believe that most people deserve a chance, but if this person is thought of to be brought into the sbl more for the purposes of winning as opposed to being somebody's close friend and just wanting to have some fun for a few weeks over the summer, then i that person shouldn't ever be allowed to step foot on an sbl court. if a person is approved to play, then he or she should make honest attempts to either do something productive for the league (providing a court, reffing, etc.) or at least make friends with everyone. if not (and i can name a couple names), then this person shouldn't be invited back for the next season. with that said, there should be, at most, one rookie per team next year. FICTION. depends, obviously not as many as this year but there should be some new players next year. there have been a lot of pretty cool new people this year fer sure like jamie fabian, and others like terry hall. i' msure we could just limit it or something.
