2003 shenangahela baseketball league preseason all-americans |
FIRST TEAM: - Nate Tomko, gonads & strife: with the retirement of jon olsavsky, there is now only one player in the sbl that has appeared on both all-american first teams. it only stands to reason that this player would be at the top of the all-american list in 2003, especially considering the talent he is surrounded by on g&s. look for tomko to once again put up astronomical numbers and be an mvp finalist for the second time in his career. - Jared Clayton, transexual heartbreakers: after a 2001 season that was both good and dissapointing, jared has seemingly poised himself for a run at the mvp trophy. as captain of the heartbreakers, jared will surely surround himself with players that compliment his stlye of play, and if he can continue nailing homers at the torrid pace he set down the stretch in 2002, sbl records will fall left and right. also, should jared use all of his 6'4 frame on defense, don't expect a lot of second chances against the THB. - Mark Tarkanick, milf hunters: how do you improve on a rookie of the year and first team all-american campaign? step out of the shadow of the league's best player and steal the mvp trophy from under his nose, of course. tark has all the tools needed to not just be a great player, but rather the greatest player in the league. after proving he can win without tomko (the hunters claimed the holiday classic crown), tark is now ready to unseat the sbl president as the league's marquee player, as well as pry the sbl world championship trophy from his hands. - Andy Esenwein, gonads & strife: if anything kept esenwein from a spot on the all-american first team in 2002, it was his lack of size and experience. the year has given him a few more pounds and a few more inches, and playing on gonads & strife should provide him with all the help he needs in making the transition from good to elite. a popular early sleeper pick for most valuable player, esenwein should be chomping at the bit this year after being edged out for the rookie of the year trophy last season. - PJ Nespor, pj & the ladies: after taking a backseat to rando knight on the team that bears his name for each of the past two seasons, it appears to be pj's time to shine as the biggest star in the vast space that is pj&l. by the 2002 seasons end and into the postseaon, pj had become the best player on his team, and there's nothing indicate that he won't continue his performance into 2003. SECOND TEAM: - Bill Weisberg, weenises strike back: sure, there may have been a sentimental vote that awarded him the mvp last season, but i don't think there's any doubt that, despite playing below his abilities thus far in his baseketball career, he's one of the best ten players in the league. - Fred Shaffer, vice city miracles: was 2002 a fluke, or is fred really that good? - Big Rando Knight, PJ & the Ladies: one of the best all-around players in the sbl for 3 seasons now and a yearly member of the sbl all-american team, a slimmed down big puma should only improve in 2003. - Shelly Goodpastor, gonads & strife: lacked only the games played to garner a spot on 2002's all-american team. if she can get in a few more games in '03, shelly should, playing alongside tomko and esenwein, be a safe bet to drive in 70 runs and hit .600, and be the first female all-american since jamie moroco in 2001. - Kip Corbett, milf hunters: the defense is money. the will to win is there. if kippy learns how to shoot consistently, look for him to edge out former second teamer and fellow hunter steve mentrek for the final spot on the team.
