2009 Sbl Season
Week 1
Most of these are probably going to be short and sweet because like most of you I was pretty wasted and I’m having a hard time remembering what happened in my own games let alone ones I wasn’t in
Millivanilliseconds 7
Pj & The Ladies 5
This season started out like most of the others have, with a sloppy low scoring game while everyone works out the winter rust. The first hit of the year came via rookie adam moore nailing home a triple on his first sbl shot. Rando plated him with a single but the ladies failed to score any more runs. Milly tied it up with a Tim Martin solo homer in the bottom half of the first. After a slow paced back and forth over the next few innings the ladies tied it up at 5 in the top of the 7th with a billy weisberg rbi double. MVS scored 2 in the bottom of the inning that was too much for the ladies to overcome.
For the Millivanilliseconds, tim martin led the charge with a 4/9 3 homer, 4 rbi performance. Katie Kelly went 6 for 9 with 2 double plays.
Rookie Adam Moore lead the ladies with a 5 for 12 game with 3 rbi
Pj & The Ladies 17
Walker Told Me I Have AIDS 8
The underdog ladies shook off their early struggles with an 8 run 2nd inning sparked by a billy weisberg grand slam. The ladies also made all 3 homers in the inning and never looked back. Walker made it a game with a 5 run 4th on the strength of 2 Bryan Frankovich homers but it wasn't enough. The ladies kept piling on the runs and Walker just couldn't keep up.
Billy led the scoring for the victors with a 7/14 3 homer 9 rbi game. Rando chipped in a 7/15 with 3 solo homers. Adam Moore also added 5 hits, 3 of them homers and 5 rbi.
B Frank had a 4/11 with 3 homers and 4 rbi
Honest Abe's Truth Brigade 11
Walker Told Me I Have AIDS 8
Walker looked to have the upper hand in this one getting off to a 4-1 lead after 5 but a 4 run 7th by the Truth Brigade gave them their first lead of the day at 7-6. Neither team scored in the 8th but the Truth Brigade broke open the game in the top of the 9th with a Billy Deforest grand slam. Walker attempted to make up the 5 run deficit bukkake tsunami style with solo homers but only managed to get 2 runs.
Pj Oconner went 3/7 with 3 hr and 5 rbi. Billy D went 2/7 with a grand slam and 4 rbi
Bob Spohn and Bryan Frankovich led Walker with 4 hits and 2 homers apiece.
Opie and the E Street Band 13
Queenie Mentrek 10
The anticipated matchup of arguably the two best teams in the sbl took a few innings to get off the ground but Terry Shernisky opened the scoring for E Street in the 3rd inning with a 2 out grand slam. Queenie Mentrek answered with a 4 run 4th capped off by a Nate Tomko 2 run jack. The game remained close until the top of the 7th when E Street scored 5 on the strength of 2 Shernisky homers. Ben Smith added a grand slam for Queenie in the bottom of the 9th but it was too little too late.
Terry Shernisky was the star for the E Street Band putting home 5 of his 8 shots with 5 hr and 9 rbi
For Queenie, Jeanne Mentrek converted on half of her 8 shots and Tomko added 3 hits with a homer and 3 rbi
Queenie Mentrek 12
Jukebox Hero 7
This game was dominated by Queenie Mentrek and the only thing the kept Jukebox in it was a 4th inning grand slam by Lenny Crist, aided by a Mikey Moroco dumb thing. Surprisingly this game was tied at 6 after 5 innings but the Tomko led Queenie squad was too much to keep up with.
Mikey Moroco took this game over for Queenie Mentrek with a 6/11 4hr 6rbi 4dp 1ass 1 psyche out 1 dumb thing line.
Lenny Crist had a good game for Jukebox with 5rbi and 3 psyche outs
Opie and The E Street Band 17
Millivanilliseconds 11
The E Street Band kept up their offensive barrage against the Millivanilliseconds scoring 6 runs in the first 3 innings to get out to a 6-2 lead and never looked back. By the end of the 8th the lead was 17-6. MVS scored 5 in the bottom of the 9th but fell short of the 11 they needed.
Opie led his team to victory with a 7/11 5hr 6rbi 2dp game. Shernisky also added 5hr with 7rbi and 2dp
Lee Nespor seemed to be the only player on the court for the Millivanilliseconds going 3/6 with a grand slam and 8rbi
Jukebox Hero 18
Honest Abe's Truth Brigade 7
Jukebox Hero got its first win of the season in this lopsided matchup with the Truth Brigade. Somebody clearly had it in for Billy D and his crew putting together a jukebox all star team with Jon Olsavky, Dank, Ben Smith, Mikey Moroco, Opie Neff, Jon Biddle and captain Jason Jennings. Jukebox blew the game open early with a 7 run 2nd followed by 3 more in the 3rd. The Truth Brigade never really got going except for a 3 run 4th inning and Jukebox kept putting more runs on the board to take this game.
Dank had a 4/6 1hr 4rbi 1dp line to go with Opie's 2/5 2hr 4rbi game for Jukebox
Chris Erret made his case for rookie of the year going 4/9 with 3hr 4rbi and 1dp for the Truth Brigade.
