2005 SHENANGAHELA BASEKETBALL LEAGUE ALL-AMERICANS
FIRST TEAM:

Bryan Frankovich,
team koopa troopa:  16 GP, 30 HR, .556 AVG., 103 RBI, 2 AST, 35 DP, 0 PSYCHE, 5 DUMB
bryan makes his second consecutive appearance on the sbl all-american team after a season in which he set personal bests in homeruns, batting average, runs batted in and double plays.  as the best all-around player on team koopa troopa, bryan had his squad at or near the head of the pack all season long.  his importance to his team showed when, during the playoffs, he nearly single handily defeated the tots as the rest of his team played well below themselves.

Ben Smith,
train on terry shernisky:  18 GP, 27 HR, .542 AVG., 121 RBI, 0 AST, 21 DP, 0 PSYCHE, 9 DUMB
in only his second season and after spending much of last year seeing little action outside of mop-up duty, ben made his presence felt in 2005 as one of the best offensive weapons in the sbl.  captaining the tots, a team which he built to compliment his deadly outside shooting, into the 2005 world championships,  ben raked in 121 rbi, good for 4th on the all-time single season list.  this is ben's first sbl all-american honor.

Jon Biddle,
the fupalooters: 20 GP, 4 HR, .493 AVG., 73 RBI, 7 AST, 82 DP, 5 PSYCHE, 12 DUMB
for the second consecutive season, jon biddle finished atop the league in double plays while continuing to improve offensively into a very solid player.   captaining the fupalooters to a third-place finish despite taking a horrible beating by highly drafted players who never showed up, jon was both the best offensive and defensive player on his inconsistent squad.  his .493 average, 73 rbi and 7 assists are all well above his career numbers, and should he continue improving, a third first-team all-american spot is not out of the question next season.

Terry Shernisky,
return of the weenises:  19 GP, 21 HR, .644 AVG., 117 RBI, 6 AST, 66 DP, 2 PSYCHE, 4 DUMB
the 2005 sbl rookie of the year took little time establishing himself as one of the best players ever to set foot on an sbl court.  ranking in the top 5 in every single category while being hands-down the best player on his somewhat understaffed team, terry would have been the player of the year in any other season.  however, he'll have to settle for the tark trophy and going down in history as the greatest rookie of all time.

Nate Tomko,
pj & the ladies:  22 GP, 50 HR, .738 AVG., 160 RBI, 9 AST, 71 DP, 9 PSYCHE, 3 DUMB
tomko regained his status as the best player in the sbl in 2005, winning his third jim varney trophy for player of the year and leading long-time losers pj & the ladies to the sbl world championship.  nate obliterated the sbl single-season homerun and rbi records, and finished atop the league in every other stat category sans double plays, in which he finished second.  this marks his 5th straight first team all-american appearance.

SECOND TEAM:

Jeff Knight,
uncle jed's pocket watch:  22 GP, 15 HR, .505 AVG., 105 RBI, 5 AST, 46 DP, 0 PSYCHE, 4 DUMB
rookie of the year runner-up jeff knight put up some serious numbers in his first campaign, and as a result became one of only 2 rookies to make the all-star game.  despite playing for 3 different teams throughout the season, and seldom seeing any action at all for the first 4 weeks of the year, jeff was one of only 7 players to drive in over 100 runs in 2005.

Shelley Goodpastor,
uncle jed's pcoket watch:  21 GP, 19 HR, .715 AVG., 110 RBI, 0 AST, 2 DP, 0 PSYCHE, 2 DUMB
the best offensive player in the sbl should probably be on the first team every season, but in the year of offense, shelley just didn't blow the rest of the league out enough to make up for her limited defense.   her batting numbers are all top-6 in the league, and she collected career bests in rbi and average, but with minimal numbers in the double play and psyche out categories not even this 2005 player of the year finalist and all-star makes the first team.

Matt Mcclelland,
team koopa troopa:  20 GP, 14 HR, .627 AVG., 87 RBI, 4 AST, 19 DP, 1 PSYCHE, 1 DUMB
the 2004 player of the year actually followed up his earnest-winning season with a better one.  though he failed to repeat, matt  posted career bests with 14 homeruns and 87 rbi and made his third consecutive all-star start.  this makrs his second straight second-team appearance after being a first-teamer in his rookie season.

Jon Olsavsky,
pj & the ladies:  19 GP, 13 HR, .620 AVG., 69 RBI, 3 AST, 20 DP, 0 PSYCHE, 6 DUMB
as one of only 2 players who can claim to be a 5-time asbl all-american, jon recovered from a case of mid-season "i hate baseketball" to collect his third sbl world championshjp as a member of the ladies.  his .620 average is a career best, and the rest of his offensive numbers are well above his career marks as well.  in addition, jon played in his fifth all-star game and won the sbl scrum tournament in '05.

Pat Lackey,
return of the weenises:  21 GP, 9 HR, .537 AVG., 100 RBI, 1 AST, 16 DP, 1 PSYCH
by setting personal bests in batting average and rbi, 3-year veteran pat lackey makes his first-ever appearance on the sbl all-american team.  in spite of falling victim to the lethal lottery and being forced to adjust to two offenses this season, pat made it clar that, while dennis and greg are improving exponentialy, he is still the top dog in the lackey family.
